Default Closed door policies?

What are your closed door policies at home?
At home there are no locks on bedroom doors and the bathroom doors.
My brother and I shower with the door closed but my mom leaves it open for whatever reason.

What about everyone else?

We don't have locks on our bedroom and bathroom doors either, but we have a policy that basically says "closed doors mean knock first", which we all respect. We also keep the bathroom door slightly open when no one is in there.

I see myself as a diplomat. Got a problem with that, asshole? Huh??

We dont have locks on any doors, bathroom or bedroom. Me and my brother along with my parents have come to the agreement that whenever our bedroom door is closed, no one comes in because we are masturbating. They have caught us multiple times so they very well know that we do it together. But my parents can walk into the bathroom at anytime, but its less awkward getting caught taking a dump than to get caught masturbating.

I’m free to lock my bedroom or my bathroom door at any time, but I hardly ever do. I’m the only one that uses my bathroom and if I want privacy I just shut my door (mostly at night). My parents sleep across the house so they hardly ever bother me

if the bedroom door is closed it means either me or my brother wants privacy, yeah we're masturbating. our parents know and understand that's what boys do. all other times we leave the door open. parents bathroom in their bedroom. ours we close the door when sitting on the toilet otherwise its open when we pee and take a shower or bath

Yeah we actually keep a slight opening when showering as well. Anyone will hear that someone is in there, and the bathroom gets less foggy after the shower.

Makes sense. We only have one bathroom though, but fortunately the curtain covers whoever's showering if someone lost in their own thoughts walks in.

There are locks on the bathroom and my bedroom but the only time I use them is when I'm showering or getting dressed. If I don't use them at these times I have a little brother that doesn't bother to knock and barges right in.

I agree with most of the above. If
there r no locked or closed doors
for privacy then it should b told
that one should knock first before
entering.

For some reason we only have a lock in the shower room. Our bathroom has no lock, nor do any of the other rooms in our house.

We have locks on our bathroom doors, that's just how it's always been. But we have no locks on our bedroom doors. Like other members have, policy is when doors are closed we knock first, and that's definitely something we all respect.

There isn't s hard and fast rule about locked doors in our house. But usually we don't lock doors. If a bedroom door is locked as a courtesy we knock before entering. As for our parents' door we always knock and wait for they to say it's okay to come in.

No locks inside the house. When someone’s in the bathroom using it, the door’s shut and before anyone goes in, they knock. If you’re just brushing your teeth or whatever you leave it open in case someone needs something. Which I live with 3 sisters so they need time in there more than me.

Once I’m ready for bed I can shut my bedroom door but before 10 my family kind of is supposed to be downstairs together unless you need like extra study time. And usually if I do go to my room I leave the door open because if I shut it it seems like people need me for something so privacy is pretty rare.

All of our doors have locks and we respect that. If the door is locked you assume its for a reason and wait. And we all also knock and wait for a response too.

That bathrooms here do not have locks, but the toilets do. We built the house I live in here and we did it the same way our house in Australia is. Bedrooms do not have locks, but if door is closed, that means privacy wanted. When no one is in the bedrooms, the doors are always left open.

Yeah it wouldn't help much if we should barge in right after knocking. xD
