Default Mountain Bikes

I'm thinking about getting a mountain bike.
Any suggestions?
I'm looking at the Specialized brand.

My main suggestion would be to get one level above what you think you want, if you can afford it. You'll be glad you did.

Rockrider at Decahtlon. Nice prices and good quality if you want to start. You rarely get issues with their brands, remember it is cheaper than other brands so it is usually worth the price.

Specialized looks to have very expensive bikes if you want to.

Couple decision points for you ...

First, you get what you pay for. Components are VERY important.
What kind of riding to you plan on doing?
Full suspension vs hard tail.
Price point.

I have two mountain bikes. My favorite one is my trek procaliber which is a hardtail cross country bike, carbon frame, very light, very fast. My full suspension is a Santa Cruz. I use the procaliber for every day trail riding and use the santa cruz if I'm hitting big single track trails that are very technical.

Marin Bikes are high-end, but somewhat expensive bikes. My dad has one and it's been doing very well for over 5 years.

Treks are good, some are expensive some are kind of midrange.
