Default Bedwetting

Anyone else here have this problem? I know it's not a mental condition but it's developmental.

VT General Hospital

This question fits better here. In the case of this section of 'developmental conditions' we are referring to more psychological ones, eg learning disorders, autism, ADHD, that kind of thing.

No, I haven't had that problem for a very long time, so don't really know anything about it.

It can happen
if the bladder is too small and gets full during night
If you have nerve damage that prevents controlling the bladder properly
If you have issues in your life (stalked, harassed, lack of self confidence, bad results in certain topics, fear of parents reaction...)

I haven't had the problem since i was very young but i did have a cousin who had it as a problem until he was about 12 so lots of people do struggle with it.

Can I just excuse the fact that I have biscuits and chocolate for breakfast by saying itís continental? Whatís the difference between a Mars bar and a pain au chocolate?

I had it as a kid but it wasn't too bad and it went away when I got older. My little brother had it worse than me, it happened till 13 or so for him and it was always embarrassing for him; he had to wear 'goodnites' (pull-ups) at night for a while, but I always did my best to be cool about it and not make him feel bad in the slightest (we shared a room, always have), so at least around me/with me he was comfortable enough. While it's an annoying problem it will sooner or later go away with time. It helps a lot to pee right before bed and not drink any liquids for a few hours before going to sleep.

I don't know if the official "medical studies" have proven it or not, but regardless I also strongly suspect one's mental state (i.e. stress) can also heavily impact this. I know that for me and my brother, earlier on there were a lot of changes based on our living situations and other things going on in our lives, so I'm pretty sure that had something to do with it. If you find that you have a lot of stress then you should look for ways to find more relaxation (be it talking to someone, or some other outlet that you can pursue to relax and let go/free your mind, etc.).

I did when I was younger. It kind of stopped when I was 12 pretty much. Most of the suggestions other people gave above are correct. Don't drink anything about an hour before bed. Be sure to go to the bathroom before bed. Set an alarm for the middle of the night. Wear goodnites just in case.

I thankfully never did. at your age it could be a little late but it may just be an issue with your primary care doctor or maybe even a therapist could help you talk it out. i don’t think there’s direct medical advice to help with chronic bedwetting, i’d assume

I don't, I did sometimes when I was very young though. If it doesn't stop when you get older, you should see a doctor. It is rare but not extremely rare.

I have had this issue and I agree with everyone else donít drink anything before bed and wear a goodnite or pull up. I have to wear them and I donít mind wearing them at night. I will even wear them during the day sometimes just so I donít have to worry about having any accidents.

I used to until I was about 12, I had to wear pull ups, then it got better mainly, it was not fun when it happened at a sleep over though. Trying not to drink anything for an hour or so before bedtime worked quite well.
