"Nothing Like It In The World" - Stephen Ambrose

It's the story of the building of the U.S. Transcontinental Railroad in 1969. It's a fascinating story of the Union Pacific RR and Central RR struggles to build and complete the first transcontinental railroad in the USA. When completed it united the west and east coasts together and made travel between those coasts in days rather than weeks.

Andrew Jackson - The American Lion

Impeachment - An American History. (Doesn't include Trump).

I particular like reading about the bios of the presidents and how the got to be president. Of course, my favorite president is Thomas Jefferson, not only was he our best president and one of the greatest thinkers of his time, but he also was one of the architects of our democracy.
Thanks for the recommendations. Finished Impeachment and will start on the Jefferson book soon.

Hi Mason,

I'm glad you enjoyed reading "Impeachment". I thought it gave a great insight to the process of impeaching an American president. It illustrates what Thomas Jefferson said early in the history of our Republics that "impeachment is a most formidable weapon for the purpose of the dominate faction that was ever conceived". It should be rarely used and for good reason.

I think you will find Meachem's book on Jefferson and interesting read as well.
