If we didn't, should people under 18, who work and not paying taxes be able to get free health care and free education like the rest of us? "Comedy is like sex. If they haven't made a noise in a while, change what you're doing."

Well yes they should... they are part of the dependent section of society, along with the very elderly.

The money they put aside wasn't taxed in the first place, but they are taxed every month, as they receive it ![]() "Comedy is like sex. If they haven't made a noise in a while, change what you're doing."

Yes. I think this seems like being a cultural difference. We have great trust in our government and I'm not the least sad about paying taxes, even if I can't vote yet. And I say that while I would support right wing and we currently have left wing government. The politics doesn't change that much and the wellfare is not going away. I want to support that. It's not about the money. It's about feeling you've earned the safety net, if your were to fall.

Paying taxes has nothing to do with morality or representation in government. Or whether you are of legal age or not.
A state provides a range of services in many aspects of the daily life of its citizens that are essential for the functioning of the state and the benefit of society. Every citizen with a certain income level pays taxes so the state can maintain these services. That, imo, is the sense of taxes in the simplest of terms. Receiving "black money", as we call it, can really bite you in the ass eventually. At least over here. Not recommended.

It will depend on how much you earn I think you can earn up to £12,000 before you pay any tax

Absolutely not. This might sound like a shock, considering I am a guy for taxing everything, within reason, of course.
Considering the fact that minors cannot open or own companies, and that the work they usually do is poorly paid, or in case of craft school internships, entirely free, they shouldn't be taxed. Besides, most work for youth or minors here is done through youth cooperations which act as middle-men between companies and workers and they are notorious for pocketing a lot of your hard-earned money. So essentially I get hired as a contractor of the youth cooperation for a job, but the company doesn't pay me directly, but through the cooperation which is supposed to handle all your taxes and benefits. According to Serbian law, if you are an employee, the employer has to pay all your taxes and benefits. Now, these cooperations are corrupt as hell. Aside from pocketing my untaxed money, which is common if you are paid by the hour, the worker cooperation didn't pay my taxes and benefits. I got a court letter saying they got reported and how they paid and reported my income and benefits to the Tax Authority, and how I am now registered to have officially worked those few months. Now, there are good co-ops, but they mostly offer distant or hard manual jobs. VT's most likely to become president of 2017, 2019 & 2020

I guess but not at the same rate seeing as a minor you don’t get all the benefits of what tax dollars are used for
