I disagree. You do deserve credit. There's a reason you have the issues you have which give you the impulse to self-harm. Whether it's nature or nurture, they're forces you're fighting. And success should be acknowledged.

Maybe you can't 'celebrate' in the typical sense of the term. But just accept that you have done something to help yourself and feel good about it a respect yourself for it.

I've never smoked a tobacco cigarette in my life. No biggie; I have no desire.
But I still have respect for those who were smokers and gave it up. It takes strength.
