I've been convinced I'm autistic for ages, but never worked up the courage to go to the doctors about it, because I've heard horror stories about how hard it can be sometimes to get referred through the NHS in the UK and think the GP would just bat me away.

For me it's the usual stuff: social situations baffle me, certain sounds/sights/smells can be overwhelming, crowds are a nightmare, keeping eye contact is just horrible, sticking rigidly to routines to avoid meltdowns...

It's not like I want any support or anything, it'd just be more for my own confirmation and piece of mind I suppose.
