$I find this weird how can you be born gay i always think of it as a choice rather than something your born with.
but also i did read that people would have prefered to be str8 rather than gay or bi so i dont know
What do you guys think of this?

I had no choice in being gay. i cant control who i like any more than i can control gravity. your sexuality is a born trait, it just surfaces during puberty

I think if ur gay ur born with it but u don't know until puberty cuz god makes you. When your 5-10 years old ur told that men like women and men like females. No parents tell you men like men or women like women. First day of 2nd grade and u come home and ur dad say how many girlfriends does my son have. They never say boyfriends. I think u r born that way but u don't realize it because no one teaches you until puberty.

One is born gay just as one is born straight.

If being gay is a choice why doesn't 'praying the gay away' work?

well i think sometimes its a choice by how they feel, sometimes a hormonal influence (but not permanant if so), and sometimes flat out born with a natural attraction to other guys (something with neurons i guess)

All evidence points to genetic factors, environmental factors while in the womb, and presence and quantity of chemicals and hormones in vitro.

for men at least, while in the mother's womb...the mother produces a hormone...not sure what it is called. Which affects the hypothallamus i believe. And that child is more likely to be homosexual. it may be the same for females, but i'm not sure. you are born innocent...as you get older, your biological instincts link you to the perfect person for you. The one who will provide for the needs you cannot give yourself. and you are attracted to that. Male or female.

No one chooses to be gay. Sexuality isn't a choice, it's just who you are. And I think everyone knows that you can't choose who you are. Why would somebody choose to go through all of the discrimination homosexuals face?
And also accepting themselves is extremely difficult for some people, so why would they choose it?
If you pay attention to the news or talk shows or newspapers you'll know that many gay teens commit suicide every year because they just can't take the bullying, or they hate themselves too much to keep living. Why would someone choose to be gay and then cry over it? They wouldn't.
I see what you're saying about being born that way. Like, I don't really believe babies are gay or straight, but rather they develop their sexuality. But no way is it a choice.

There is evidence that the first couple years of your life also influence it but that's beside the point - if it were a simple choice, I doubt anybody would be gay as it's such a palaver and all. Also, homosexuality manifests itself in many species of animals, most of which lack the brain power to "choose" but some such as primates do also exhibit it. This shows to me that it's not a choice.

Before I came out it felt like a war inside me my conscious was saying:"you can't think that what's wrong with you." but it hurt so much and I lost so much and eventually the struggle to fit in and be normal was lost I couldn't fight anymore I was too tired. And I had to admit to myself I was gay

Well guys, lets make this clear. This was from my very old days. Before I really gave it much thought.
My opinion on this subject today is much more thought out and completely different from what I have said in my above post :)
