Ok, so let me inform you a bit of who I am or want to be.
I am a very smart kid. My sister says I am a very bright and motivated person. She says I will go far in life. If I apply myself more in school.
So the thing is I like school this year. I do, I miss A LOT of it though. I don't like missing school, but I do. I think it is partly because I get overwhelmed with some homework. Well actually I procrastinate way to much.
I really don't want to drag this story on and on, but I really need some help here. I am not a dumb person. Nor am I a hood rat or anything like that, so I don't act like that at school. I just don't like going/put stuff off to much.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Here's a chance for you to truly help someone right now.

I barely got by in secondary school because of what you describe. I don't take stress easily. Even showing up seemed like a chore.
Basically, do your homework consistently. That's all I can really tell you. But trust me, that's what you need to do. You're probably used to putting it off and not doing it, so it's become a habit to procrastinate. If you turn it into a good habit, by consistently doing it and not procrastinate (they say it takes 21 days to make it a habit) then it won't seem like as much of a drag as it feels like now.
To get started, create motivation. You can let your parents in on this as well. Maybe, promise yourself, when you finish your homework today, you can go out for ice cream or buy a video game or whatever is interesting to you. But you can only have that if you do your homework. Continue that until it's become routine, to do your homework after you get home, and it won't be as stressful.

I have ADD. Procrastination and ADD go hand in hand. I'm not saying you have ADD, just saying I know what it's like. My psycologist gave me some tips that could help with your procrastination.
1. If you don't have a note book with dates in it (I forget what it's called) get one. They are cheap, you can get it at staples, or any school supply store. Right your homework inside of it. Example It'll say Monday 2/30/11 You write - English - p. 456 #4-35.
2. Get a backwards calllender. It's a gaint calander. Now every time you get an assignment go home write it on the callender.
3. Stick to a schedule, and keep it. I'm going to do an hour of homework, and that's it, then do it.
4. If you have a book to read, then see how many pages. If it's 100 and you have 4 days to read it. Read 25 pages a night.
5. Color coding helps.
6. Plan ahead. on the backward callender if you have a project due on Friday and today is monday seperate it out, and make a timeline.
7. A day before. Get things done a day before. This will help with stress, and if you get sick or something comes up, you have an extra day to do it.
8. Motivation, I haven't found the key to getting motivation. But good luck.
9. Commitment- don't do it latter, you know you won't remember, so do it now. Force yourself (easier said then done).
10. Cut out distractions.
I hope this helps. Contact me with any questions or for more information. :)

I used to be like this, a lot. I guess one day I just decided i'd be organised. I made sure I organised my diary where I write down all the homework I have. That helped a lot. Having the organisation of that made me want to continue the organisation of actually doing the work. It's just getting yourself into the right mind frame that's all. Then again i'm a very obsessive person and can easily motivate myself by making it obsessive so I don't know how that would work with others.

All your guys answers are great! I appreciate it. I'm a freshman this year, so I'm not used this high school system.
But like I said, I appreciate it!

We're similar people. All through freshman year, I procrastinated. Why? I just didn't care. I got decent marks, rarely did my homework, did generally okay, but I didn't go out of my way to to well.
This year, I buckled down, bought some notebooks, took notes and organized myself. I get high marks and am happier and less stressed. It's pretty nice to just have a bunch of stuff in order.
