Since I've had too much free time lately and have had nothing to do, I recently watched The Fellowship of the Ring. I went to watch The Two Towers, but I realized the first disc is lost. I have all three extended editions of the movies. I was determined to find a copy of the extended edition of The Two Towers at a store near me. Too no surprise, they stopped selling them.
However, I found this on Amazon while I was searching The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Extended Edition (Blu-Ray) (http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Picture-Trilogy-Extended/dp/B0026L7H20/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1302064556&sr=1-1). It made me extremely happy :D Yes, it's a bit pricey, but I don't really care. $83 for these three amazing movies in Blu-Ray is worth it to me.
Anyway, so this thread isn't just pointless advertising, what do you think of the trilogy? What's your favorite movie?

It was a nice movie. It is nice to see a fantasy epic once in a while.
I liked all the movies, actually. I consider them as one movie in three parts, though. I have the DVD for via last 2 films.
@You know, all that shit could have been avoided if Mr.Smith took the ring and threw it away in the

They could simply mount one of those "big birds" and fly to Mordor and throw the ring...

They would have done that, but they remembered the flying Nazguls.

Gandalf used some sort of magic in Minas Tirith remember? Before the siege, light came out from his wand and the Nazgul ran.

True. True. So, you are saying that Gandalf should rode one of those eagles, and threw the ring and that's it? Well, that was a scenario, but Mr. Smith had to put the burden on Frodo.
Time to play more heroes of might and magic.

No. Smeagol wouldn't have a decent death scene if you put it that way. I was glad to see that mother melt in Return of the King.

The books go into more detail, as usual, but these movies aren't like the usual book-movie. Peter Jackson wanted to cover as much detail as possible and succeeded.
I can't wait until the Hobbit rendition is released. I'm going opening night, no questions asked. One of my favorite books of all time.

Strangely I do not own them in DVD, even though I'm like a huge collector. o.o

I'd rather have the interesting story than the logical solution.

My stepdad is a huge sci-fi/fantasy nerd. He likes every big series that fits in that category. So he is completely obsessed with Lord of the Rings.
I like it as well, except not as much. He's mad at me that I've never read the books though :P
He got that blu-ray pack last year actually, for his birthday.

The Lord of the Rings is a high fantasy epic movie. :) The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's earlier, less complex children's fantasy novel The Hobbit (but eventually developed into a much larger work.so most readers known as Trilogy.:yeah:

I think the movies are beautiful :) I never get tired of them, in fact, I want to watch one of them right now :P I just love the music and the setting, not to mention the origionality of the story and characters. It blows my mind. The movies are just totally epic. I've read the first and second book but never got around to reading the third.
It's no exaggeration when I say: The Lord Of The Rings is a masterpiece.
I'm not a hobbit fangirl, my friend says I look like a hobbit. Hence, the username :P

I like them, in reverse order. As in, I love the first movie, but thought the last one was just ok. I love the extended editions, but by halfway thru the last movie I was like, fuck, this is taking foreveeeeeeeeeeeeer. lol.
The extended dvds were only around for a limited time, but u can still find them online. I'm def gonna get the blu-ray set since i never bought the regular dvds.

I still get shivers at the battle of the Black Gate, between Aragorns speech and when it goes all slow-mo and he's like "For Frodo" in a whisper.
Awesome Awesome movies I love them so much, even the slow scenes where Sam and Frodo just flirt as they walk to mordor.

The detail and imagery of those movies were amazing, and still make me wonder why I don't have the Blu-Ray set. I've read all the books and the movie does it fair share of staying on point compared to other movies. All in all it was a great set of movies and I can't wait for The Hobbit either.
