Love the comment BTW. Hah, that's what I used to think of her before I took a listen to her new album and I fell in love. And for the fact that she is African-American, as am I, and I am never attracted to Black chicks. But she is an exception. :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this list. :)

Your list can work as a Mainstream music starter pack.

Wow, I only enjoy four albums on that list and those four albums are only decent/meh to me. "Ranging from rap to rock to pop" really doesn't range to much actually.

I guess I wasn't too clear on that. What I meant by ranging from rap to pop to rock, I meant as in there were albums from those genres in my list. Which there are.

This, except Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More. Marcus Mumford is truly something.

Mumford and sons are fucking terrible.

They're the nickelback of folk music, seriously, that shit is so fucking terrible, my mind, which is a fan of folk music, takes M&S as a huge slap to the face of the folk music genre.

Your pick for the #1 greatest album of all time came out six months ago. Six... months ago.

You're entitled to your own opinion, OP, and I'm not going to bash you for your tastes. Actually, you've earned my respect for not spouting your list as undeniable fact like so many on the Internet do these days.

My five favorite (not "greatest of all time") albums at the moment would be:

Illmatic – Nas
Nevermind – Nirvana
Rio – Duran Duran
Core – Stone Temple Pilots
Odelay – Beck

Of course, this'll be different by next week.

Correction: in your opinion, M&S are terrible. To be honest I don't see why they should follow some prewritten template of what folk music should be like you're implying. They're just an upbeat folk band - and I think they have some great lyrics, too.

It could have been worse... but not by much. Five of those I do like, only one of them being even close to my own top albums list though. Like I said, it could have been worse.

No. They're a pop rock band with acoustic instruments.

I'll admit, their happy songs are quite bad. I just enjoy Dust Bowl Dance and, to some extent, I Gave You All. Also, my favourite band toured with them / joined them naked onstage for Roll Away Your Stone - like their only good happy song that's better played live.

I mean, songs like The Cave, Awake My Soul, and stuff... yeah they might as well be indie pop. I don't really listen to those.

So it was my opinion but I understand where you are coming from.

Don't worry dude. Your list is nothing in terms of bad when you compare it to this. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_500_Greatest_Albums_of_All_Time) Seriously, Rolling Stone is so fucking dumb. I like your list allot more than those douche bags.

If you're looking for lists that are actually more on the spot and fucking amazing, look at The Wire. This (http://rateyourmusic.com/list/lechat/the_wires_records_that_set_the_world_on_fire__while_no_one_was_listening___incom plete_) is easily the best album list I've ever seen. From the description -

Tired of being reminded by other magazines that the best albums in the world were made by The Beatles, Beach Boys and Rolling Stones? So is The Wire magazine. They polled their writers to come up with a guide to 100 records that should have ignited the world's imagination, except that everyone else was fiddling...

They clearly made a middle finger to Rolling Stone saying that and to me that's awesome. Seriously, The Wire is one of the best sources for finding the best in music you've never heard about.

Thanks for supporting me in some sort of way. I didn't think my list was that bad mostly because it's my favorites of all time so far. :)
