I accidentally stumbled upon this thread.

I want you all to take a few minutes to read it.
I just want to know are these types of threads acceptable.
It is basically making fun of other users. I just want to know if I'm alone on this one, or not.

well, those members have been banned or left (and never came back) so I don't really see what's wrong. they also told lies.
if it was about CURRENT members, that's something completely different. that wouldn't be allowed

Yes I see your point. But I just want to make sure a thread like this doesn't happen again.

It is acceptable. If it wasn't it would have been locked.

How would you know if someone is telling the truth? How do you specifically know a user on here is who they say they are? I'm sure there's a shit load of users on here that lie all the time. We just don't notice it. Not like it really matters much unless they're lying over a serious thing that attracts allot of people. Such as, I don't know....cancer?
I mean it really is dumb that when I make Appleton jokes people get OFFENDED by me making them. Really? How does that effect you in any way shape or form? It doesn't. You're not him. I'm not making fun of you. I just don't get it.
Personally, I think allot of people over react over small posts here on VT and take some shit too seriously, like that thread.
Not a big deal, move on. Now if someone was literally calling you and saying, "That dumbass piece of shit needs to get the fuck off VT", then that's another stupid. But if someone is just saying, "Wow, this thread is dumb or this post is dumb", I don't see the problem. They're not saying that the user who posted it is dumb, they're just saying what the user posted is dumb. Big difference in my opinion.
I call people out on stupid shit all the time, but I barely ever actually say to them that they're stupid for saying stupid shit. I'll admit I've done it before, but not allot of times. We all say stupid shit. Smart people say stupid shit too.
tl;dr not a big deal, move on, get over it, big difference on saying something is stupid then saying someone is stupid.

Yes. I would understand if it were current members being made fun of, but it's not.

That thread was a interesting read.
Particularly this bit:
i'm not mentioning names here, but i remember one person who was especially active between mid 08 and mid 09 who befriended many people including staff members, who turned out to be a preditor. some of you may know who i'm talking about, but i ain't mentioning names.

The thread is acceptable, also notice it was last year  it should also be noted that insulting isn't allowed and in no way shape or form was it happening there. Was simple reminiscing of what had happened and the older members sharing their memries of past disastrous members and good members. There's nothing wrong with that. Especially since not only was it in the white padded room that way no- non registered members could see it, but the people that are no longer around, haven't seen it. Anyway, as Ant has already said, if it was rule breaking or got out of hand it would have been locked.
