$12 dollars!?!?!?! You're kidding me! It's like 400 here in Minnesota! I'm Moving to Kentucky!

On the other hand, yes. I will end up paying for the majority of my DE. And yes, it sucks MAJORLY.

I'm fairly certain he meant for the drivers license itself. Because that's what it is here in Missouri (Or something close to it.)

Oh well I was reading it wrong. The actual license is $12, but lessons are optional. And they cost a couple of hundred dollars, depending on how many you get. If I get any, I will only get one.

In Vermont lessons are required, but most high schools give them for free but they're filled so you may not get in them. Paid lessons are around $700 bucks and the license I think is $16 but it costs $12 each time you try the test. So really it's 28

I was pretty fucking lucky because my parents paid for me to get through my test and get my licence. All in all, cost about £1300 I think for formal training / testing.

- £50 to initially apply for provisional licence

- £31 for car theory test (passed first time)

- £1100 on lessons (4 months of lessons [give or take], 1 lesson per week, 2 hours per lesson, £20 an hour)

- £62 per car test (passed second time)

Also there would have been the cost of getting the theory training material, getting me put on my parent's insurance, petrol costs for practice outside of lessons e.t.c. e.t.c.

Not cheap in the UK I'm afraid.

Ironically, you don't technically (or legally) need a licence / tax / MOT / insurance to operate a 'car' on a public highway in the UK unless you're driving for commercial purposes. Whole other topic though.

I probably spent £500+ on lessons, £200 on extra shit, £180'ish on tests. So a lot of money, didn't have to pay for the license though; I can't recall paying for it anyway.

$78.40 per Practical Examination.

I have failed twice. You pay even if you fail.

Then another $38.78 licence fee when you get it
