For some/most people, it comes naturally. For others, they wouldn't be able to drive good if their life depended on it.
Though, it's not really a hard concept to grasp. Right pedal makes you go, left/center makes you stop. Turn the wheel in the direction you want to go. Don't hit anything. Ect. ;)

Hopefully you won't suck at it and GET your liscense. Just kidding, :D Anyways, I have preacticed driving with my dad, pedals, steering, and everything myself, and it isn't hard at all. Sure, it takes some time to get used to the pressure you put on the pedal, but it's actually really fun. However, it can be kind of scary at first. It's like, all the controls on you. :) Good luck! ~Caitlin

Btw, congratulations on getting 100 posts! :P

Come to Britain and drive a manual.

The general idea is, an automatic will be easy and a manual will give you more control but will be harder to learn.

It depends on you as a person really, i took to driving like a duck to water. However the theory parts were relatively more difficult than the practical side of it. It also depends on whether you're driving automatic or manually.

I personally love driving, it came almost naturally to me. I have had to learn how to drive both manual (ambulance, it was an older style) and an automatic (my car) I just really enjoy driving.

Hmm, when you say driving I can separate it into two main areas: 1) Learning how to actually manoeuvre a vehicle. 2) Learning your 'road sense' (learning how to drive safely on the road).

Learning to actually make a car go vroom and move was pretty fucking easy for me and most people pick it up pretty quickly. It can take you a while to build up confidence to drive at higher speeds / use gears and the clutch fluently but it's easy enough after a bit.

I found learning the car and LGV/HGV theory pretty easy mainly because it was all information which could easily be applied when out driving. Most of it his still stuck quite firmly in my head.

Learning my road sense took me a little while longer. I think I was as most people are when I started off driving, bloody dangerous. After two years of driving, about 50k miles, trips through mainland Europe and an IAM and blue light course, I'd say I'm a pretty competent driver now. Admittedly, there's a lot I've learnt in various driving courses which I don't really put into action in every day driving (in which I can be a bit of a twazzock, ask a certain person on here) but I'd say I'm safer than most my age.

Just try to keep as chill as you can when you start to drive, practice lots, listen to any advice you're given, do as many courses e.t.c. as you can and you will start to notice your driving improving :P

I found it extremely easy to pick up. Ii just came naturally for me. And as long as you know the rules of the road, you should be fine on any written test. Just read over the Driver's Manual for your area.

My teacher once asked me to explain driving to him and you can quote me on this because I can up with it:

Driving is like coloring. It does not matter what color you use or how pretty it looks, you just need ot be able to stay inside the lines, and only go out of them if you know you can get back in.

I'd second this. When I started out I practiced largely on open country roads with virtually no other traffic so I could get a feel for the weight and movement of the vehicle. I can drive most any car in this sense without a problem. It's getting onto actual streets, with other people, pedestrians, signs, lanes, laws to follow, and things like that that I presently have a poor grasp of.

It really depends on the person, driving comes naturally to me so idk i would consider it easy and relaxing but other people don't, if you dont just keep practicing and you should be fine, plus your just 14 motor skills develop at different times for different people, you have 2 years to go don't even worry about it

Well no in my case I've been riding motorcycles ever since I was 5 and when I was 13-14 I driven my dads car on a county road for about half an hour, now I drive a bit When we go bush/outback.

Well for other people they may find it harder or easier. I dont know the rules and other stuff in Canada so i cant say much. In Australia the learners training is great.....anyway you should research more about the driver training even download if you can the driver training manual or whatever they called it there.

Look around you. There are millions of people who drive. So, don't worry. It's not hard. It's easier to drive than an ATV, or any all terrain vehicle.

I love driving. It's fun as long as there isn't a munch of traffic lol. On average I drive 35,000 miles a year.

Everyone is going to be at different levels. Some will find it more dificult than others. Also depends on your confidence.

Its really not that bad. Before I started driving, I was TERRIFIED to try. But now, I have my license and I usually drive around 3-5 times a week. The more you do it and practice, the easier it gets. I was even in a bad accident a month ago (not my fault thank god...), and I still enjoy driving! Everyone told me the best thing would be to get behind the wheel again so I did and now I don't have a huge fear of driving like what some people get after they've been in an accident. (:
Basically, it's not that hard. It's even a little fun. :P

The first five minutes, I was freaking the fuck out. But it only took a week, until my stepdad let me onto the road. I thought it was really simple. Once you get a feel for it, how much pressure the pedals of your car need to accelerate/brake this quickly, getting a feel for where each side of your car is, and such, it's as natural as breathing. Some people have more issues though, but from what I saw of my friends, they were just incredibly nervous and rigid, so it made it a bit harder.

What helped me was to pretend that it was one of those driving arcade games. Once I got over the fact that I was controlling a real car and I could die if I screwed up badly, I took it up quite easily.

Personally I love to drive, I find it real easy & most people are good at driving, but you still gotta watch out cause some people suck at driving. But other than that its real simple & fun

I just got my permit and driving is so easy. It's such a good freedom. I must be able to drive naturally. I don't know though. When you drive it's like you have a sixth sense, you don't think about anything other than driving and you are way more focussed on things happening around you. It's a much different feeling and mindset than riding in the passenger seat

I don't know how you do your driving tests over in Canada, but here in the UK we sign up to have lessons and we build up skill from that and have to pass 2 tests. It honestly comes natural, just stay within the rules and things will be chill. Also, Manual > Automatic.

Its pretty easy and try to learn in something like a truck or an SUV

It's very easy if you are just relaxed, but aware. People who are all tense and worried about shit are more likely to drive badly.

Well I have been driving since I was 8 by myself. I would always follow my dad in the car and he would drive the truck. I was driving a tractor then too. But I get all of my skills from dad, he is a great driver. More of an agressive driver, lol. But I am 14 and am driving by myself. I drive in Denver, and I don't get scared or anything, it just comes naturally for me. Just always be watching and thinking about what the other people are going to do. NEVER assume they will stop at the stop sign. Someone blew through it last night and stopped right in the intersection, but I was watching and seen it coming; so just always be watching. Driving is awesome. Have fun and be safe for all of the new drivers!

I think it's up to your motivation. If you really want to learn how to drive, you'll probably learn better, as supposed to someone who has no motivation whatsoever. To me, I really enjoy driving, and I honestly don't find it THAT hard to learn how to drive.

Its up to you, how confident you are etc.. I think the biggest problem for me is trying to figure out what others are going to do versus what I am doing. Try to cut the distractions... friends, cell phone, etc at first.
Try to practice as much as you can... a school or church parking lot on the weekends helps to gain confidence, especially on parking.

It's not tough, but depending on who is teaching you it can seem intimidating. Try to relax and get someone to teach you who has some patience, and you'll be fine. You'll wonder who you ever got around with out driving.

No, driving is not HARD, per se. You do need to be focused at all times and remember the rules. One wrong move and you can get into an accident or get a ticket. I have heard that once you are driving for 2-3 years everything becomes second nature.

Hey man, this is from August of last year. Try to check the post dates next time, to make sure threads aren't over 2 months old.
Thanks. :)
