Hi, i just wanted to tell you guys about my school. You may picture homeschool as going to a small group school with other kids, or being taught at home by your parents...but my school is completely different! I do my school online. It is called k12, and every year I register and get sent textbooks, science materials, maps for Social Studies, and all kinds of stuff! All I have to do to go to school is log into k12, click on a lesson, and open my textbook and work! I do school the normal amount of time that middleschoolers do, and I log my attendance each day. I also have to go to Elluminates, to prepare me for tests on Study Island. Elluminate is an online web tour, there are cool features such as microphone and chat privelages, the rase your hand button, emoticons to express feelings and answer "yes" or "no," and even a whiteboard you can draw on with your mouse. The teacher teaches on the whiteboard and talks to us with the microphone, and she uses the tools to draw out problems. After Elluminates, I log into a site called Study Island, as I talked about earlier, to review what I have learned in a test. I have Elluminates and Study Islands for each subject...Language, Algebra, History, and Science. One of my favorite parts of online school is that I can take as many days off as I want, but I just have to make it up later on, either by doing work on weekends, or doing a few extra lessons each day. Doing virtual school releases tension and makes it easy to complete work every day. My academic skill is improving the longer I stay in the school, and I am looking forward to 8th grade next year. :D So, anyways, another thing that is cool about the online school is that I can go on field trips and meet other students doing fun activities! I just register online, and go to the event! The teachers usually pay for the costs of the outings. We get to go to places like Six Flags, Disney World, and there is a more recent trip to some islands. So, do I have teachers besides in Elluminates? I sure do! I have a homeroom teacher, and I go to regular meeting with her to discuss my grades and progress for the year. When I need to contact my teacher with questions or concerns, I send her a kmail...everyone has an inbox in their k12 account. So, overall, I love online school and recommend it to mostly...everyone!

I attended Keystone National for a short time when I was having some issues, and it just made things easier when I was constantly in and out of the psych ward. I do prefer it to public school completely. The system is much better, it's more efficient. I did something like one sixth of the school work for the entire year in only a week (though I was very bored that week). Everyone I talk to either wants to be in online school, or would want to if it wasn't for the people factor of public school being taken away. But yeah, I do highly recommend online school as well.

It sounds awesome and much more relaxing than normal school :) I think I'd go crazy from staring at a screen for hours though :/ And I like hanging out with my friends at school too...

Online schools are awesome. When I was younger I was part of a focus group with the BBC education service to help develop a online school service for the remote Scottish islands.
