Lately I've been feeling very depressed because all the other guys at my school are stronger. However, they are footballs players. I lift every other day at home, and I use 30lbs (13.6kg) dumbells to work out my biceps, forearm, triceps and for a military press. I use 25lbs dumbells (11.3kg) to work out my deltoids. All of my sets range from at least 16 reps to 20 reps at most, and I do 4 sets for each. Is this any good?

Don't go worrying yourself if your mates are stronger than you, if the people you know are worth knowing then they shouldn't give a shit as to wether you are 'strong' or not. And you're only 15 so don't start stressing yourself out about how much weightlifting you do, just concentrate on the important things in life like you education.
Well I hope you feel a bit happier about yourself, if you need anymore help then don't hesitate to ask anyone!

The pen is mightier than the sword. Well in some cases anyway. But if you want to gain muscle, start off slowly and then work you way up.

If you want to get bigger muskles and get stronger, you should do more weight and less reps. Like i do a five five five using 135 lbs for my pecks, and so on and so forth. I don't do a five five five for n e thing except my pecks though. But if you want to get bigger, do more wieght, less reps

I'm not asking how to get better, because I already know that. I'm asking if what I'm doing right now is impressive, and if I'm strong.

I have played a varsity sport everyseason since 7th grade. i worked out everyother day for a year and had gained over 40 pounds to my bench press. All that is important to look at is your progress. if the tone and strnght of your arms is changing your doing something right. if you want to know how normal you are... how tall are you and how much do yuo weigh?
with the ability to lift those weights at around 5'6'' you should weigh about 110 pounds to be in outstanding shape
tell your size and weight and i can do the math for you.

The weight that you are doing is decent.
but ur weightlifting wont help that much just working with dumbbells. If you really want to get strong, get a bench a bar and some bar weights. You can Bench(a really good exercise). You can do squats. Two arm curls. Theres others too.
After working out, eat plenty of protein. Protein shakes(powders) are really good.

yea all the excersises mentioned by jinzo are great. i do them every day and i started with wieghts last week. i've already increased my muscle mass. it is very impressive that you lift weights and you will get stronger the more you do them. just be careful not to hurt youself ;)

I worked out regularly for about 3 months starting in like September... I only noticed my chest muscles got bigger, my biceps got curvier and a bit bigger and I started getting a slight sign of a six pack.. It wasn't that big of a change though...
At my prime I was benching 110lbs(not bad considering I weigh 130-134lbs), curling around 50 and I was doing around 200 with my legs...
Muscles don't do a whole lot in a fight... Unless you're a huge size, the muscles are mainly for intimidation.. They don't help with your swing at all. I punched just as hard in the summer as I did in December when I gave up.
Btw, if you can't do a full motion of the rep with the weight, it's not doing you any good at all.. The most resistance is at the lowest part of your rep... That's when you'll feel your amino acid build up which will increase muscle mass.
So if you're just going half way up on some reps it's not doing you any good to use that weight.

i work out everyday, 1 day i lift (65lbs on a curling bar, 140 n the bench, 20 pushups, and some total gym thing i got) then the other day i workout on my punching bag.
that way i get stronger, a cardio excersise, and i will learn how to fight better.
rowan is right, muscles dont matter that much, if u have some guy that benches 200 and has never fought anyone and another guy who can only bench 110 but he boxes, the boxer will win if they fought.
muscle growth, believe it or not, is a part of puberty...theres a stage where u can actually start building muscles(i think its an earlier stage, but everyone grows at different rates)
and one more reccomendation...if ur cool with some of the football players, ask if u can work out with them and have them show you a few tips or new excersices.
....also rowan, its the lactic acids that build up, not amino acids.

It sounds like you're at least average height, weight, and strength for your age. For your weight to height ratio, I'd say you could be lifting a little more. I'm 5-8, and 140lbs, and I curl 50 pounds altogether. Since you weigh considerably more than me, you should be able to outlift me more than you do (but how long you've been training makes a difference). In my opinion, it's not really impressive. People tend to get impressed when you can bench press a lot (I can't).

please football players my ass.. im in swimming and weight lifting and running may not be as strong as the foot ball players but im 10x more built then them and carry more endurance :P
football players are shaped to be not necessarily built but
Fat and big and and to run short yards fast.
if you want to gain strength then max out your weight .
it helps to build muscle faster.
after you gain te amount of muscle you wanted to, out then do reps to keep that physique or continue to max out to get bigger.
don't forget to eat protein, either if its a power or eggs .
when your muscle rips it uses that protein to heal the muscle helping it to grow .
i suggest eggs or steak.. lots of it :P
