I'm playing mine right now. I got it just a few hours ago. It is simply amazing.
Although I don't have any 3DS games right now, the content pre-installed is really nice.

I'm not overly impressed with the games line up to spend surplus of 200 quid yet. I like the idea but i'd get bored of Pilot wings in a week or so, which is the only title that interests me atm. I'll wait and see what date zelda, MGS, Resi or any other E3 titles are coming up before I make my decision.
No doubt the hardware is brilliant, apart from the battery of course; but i've still got high hopes for the new PSP before I go and make an investment :P

Some Gamestop guy tried to pressure me into it, saying they might run out and such like the last xbox model or something. I don't know whether he was just being a Gamestop employee, or if he actually meant that. I don't have $200 to pull out of my pocket really (if I trade in my DS lite, it takes $50 or something off of it, so that would help... that DS is screwed anyway, it has screen issues), but since they're converting and being arseholes like that, I don't think I have a choice if I want to continue getting DS games do I? Once all the games start to be released as 3DS.
Plus, I NEED that Zelda remake. Can't be as good as the N64 one, in terms of nostalgia and such, I don't really like DS controls all that much... I hate touch screen (go back to your GB, nerd!) but damn, I shall play it.

I hear the remake is going to stay true to the original version and that the touch screen is only for quickly switching items and viewing the map and such.

Yes there is going to be a Virtual Console in late May with Super Mario Land and Link's Awakening DX as confirmed launch titles.
I'd love it if Blue made it on there but it sounds a bit iffy.

Well I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I mean I'm not sure if there's anyway to complete the Pokedex without a link cable, which is the main focus of the game really. And there's obviously no such things as Link Cables anymore.
At least I think there's no way to do that. Maybe Nintendo would just put it on there for One Player mode.

I plan on getting mine this holiday unless I'm not able to afford it. The console looks really good and by the holiday's, it'll have a decent amount of games to pick from.
@Suicune: I don't think the lack of a Link Cable is a huge deal. That's like saying that we wouldn't receive multi-player games on the Wii's VC just because there isn't a cord attachment to the Wii. What Nintendo can do to get multi-player GB games on the Virtual Console is use the DS's wireless function when playing multi-player games. Considering that the DS can have up to eight local players at once and I believe the same for the 3DS, it should not be an issue for GB VC multi-player titles, especially Pokemon.
We should also remember that Pokemon was among the most popular games on the Game Boy, so you can bet that there will be tons of requests for main Pokemon games on the Virtual Console and fans will expect nothing less then the original version of the main Pokemon on the VC with minimal modification. The only thing I see that could keep the game off the VC is the Jinx "blackface", which even then, only apply to the first gen and the Japanese second gen games.

Well the Wii has direct controller input ports which makes Multiplayer Console Games possible, the 3DS does not. Games search for a Link Cable input, not a wireless connection.

Requests do not increase or change the likelihood of games appearing on the Virtual Console. EarthBound for the SNES has been number one most requested to be on the Virtual Console for many months and it still is not on the Wii Virtual Console. Even on the Official Request Polls it says that requests do not lead towards a release.

Games search for a Link Cable input, not a wireless connection.Even if that's the case, it's not going to hurt Nintendo to make Pokemon Red/Blue compatible with local wireless connection to ensure that the game can be made available on the Virtual Console in it's original form.

EarthBound for the SNES has been number one most requested to be on the Virtual Console for many months and it still is not on the Wii Virtual Console. Even on the Official Request Polls it says that requests do not lead towards a release.Earthbound was a failure when it was released in North America, selling less then 200,000 copies (It performed moderately well in Japan, thought), despite heavy advertisement campaign. As such, we can see that Nintendo probably does not want such underwhelming sales again and probably wants to keep the franchise Japan-only, as they think it's the only way they can gather profit from it. It's gotten to the point where we will not ever receive another new installment from the franchise and confirmed no less. It doesn't help it's chance that the game is rumored to suffer from massive licensing issues.
Pokemon, on the other hand, is the second most successful video game franchise ever made (Next to the plumber mascot himself) and it's core titles always sell incredibly well. As a matter of fact, Pokemon Red/Blue is the most successful game that does not suffer from licensing issues that is severe enough where they have to either edit the game or they can't release it. This was a fresh change on how RPG's was played and is very, very well received by reviewers and fans. What work they have to do to get the game on the Virtual Console will not eclipse the amount of $$$ they will make off of the VC release, making multi-player functions for GB/GBC VC titles work should not be that hard and I can see multi-player games be done like it was originally done, even without Link Cable.

EarthBound's advertising campaign is what lead to it's failure in North America, charging nearly $70 for the game in a giant box coming bundled with a strategy guide would be just too much. And it was. However, in today's society which has opened up to RPGs and has more resources to influence their own buying decisions, Nintendo shouldn't be afraid to resell the game because of the mass media they have gathered.
It's sales in North America have nothing to do with Itoi's decision not to make a Mother 4.
And there are no actual licensing issues with the game, sure there are slight remixes and pop culture references, but not one company or license holder has stepped up to claim infringement. So rumors are just rumors. Even to this day there are games that are on the Virtual Console and released by retail that make references and have remixes and have no problem.
Anyway, an EarthBound argument is not the place for 3DS discussion and now we can go back onto the topic at hand.

Too bad I asked for a DSi, not a 3DS. Oh well, but there's the new NGP to try out later this year. If I get the 3DS, I'm only up for one game, which is the MGS3 remake. Damn, that would be pretty slick. ;)

More like disabling an optional feature.
The 3D isn't meant to be used all the time.

Optional yes, but this is meant to be the defining feature of the console, hence the name. I understand full well that 3D screws with your eyes after a while but to the average consumer they do not, I imagine there are a lot of unhappy customers out there.

Well then whoever wants to spend all that money for a "Wow" moment should be unhappy. It's not like Nintendo didn't mention anything about the possibility that people couldn't see the effect.

I would imagine that a large percentage of those who've bought the 3DS were DS wannabe's who bought it for exactly that, since the DS managed to become the most successful console, ever more or less creating the casual audience itself.
What would your opinion on this be since you seem like the most hardcore 3DS fan on VT so far? Have you noticed any of these side effects of 3D?

Well I think that's it's great that the DS managed to create the casual market, which makes gaming all that more popular. Whether or not that's a positive thing or not I can't really tell, but I feel the 3DS is going to even out the Casual and Hardcore markets seeing at is has the graphical and storage space for games like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Ocarina of Time Master Quest, and so on. (I'm sure some people would find that more of a hardcore gamer thing)
I initially noticed the side effects of the 3D, my eyes felt weird, I was dizzy, and was very sleepy. But the effects lasted only a couple hours until after a few days my eyes got used to it and now I can use the 3D without any strain or dizziness.
