I love music I don't really express myself to people in my life or whatever and it became a problem when I was like 10-11 so Im use to have to go through songs to play some for the music and others for the lyrics weather it be how I feel or it remindes me of whats going on in my life. If you do this to or just relate to songs or music maybe throw some of the songs up here id be cool to see i think.

mine
Forever- Papa Roach
The Killers - Mr. Brightside
Sweatshop Union - Comes & Goes
Living Legends - Never Falling Down
Freestylers - Cracks (Flux Pavilion Remix)
Somewhere with you - Kenny chesney
Drop The World- Lil Wayne
binary star - honest expression

Not surprisingly, I find myself getting into music I can relate to well. It's hard to choose a song that describes my life though.

Ooo, my fav Binary Star song. I actually love both of these albums.

I think all music I listen to expresses who I am and the way I live. Music is a huge part of me because I'm literally addicted to it, so.... Yeah. I guess it's hard for me to explain my love for music. I can't really give out certain albums that would describe what's going on in my life sense I believe all my music is my life, obviously.

I really don't find music that relates to me because my life is just incredibly fucking uneventful. I just like what sounds good to me.

The music I listen to doesn't really express how I feel, considering a lot of the music that I'm starting to listen to is instrumental.

Are you saying instrumental music can't express feeling? Because about 2/3 of my music is instrumental and I find most of that allot more emotional then the stuff with lyrics.

No. I'm not saying that all. I'm just saying it doesn't express how I feel. For me instrumental music, in general, grabs more emotion out of me than any lyrical music can.

Same. I'm pretty much utterly addicted to music. I go through actual withdrawal when I'm in the hospital, because I have to go through around seven days straight of no music whatsoever. It's.. scary to say the least.

The Kill - The Dresden Dolls
Girl Anachronism - The Dresden Dolls
Runs In The Family - Amanda Palmer
Heard It All - Emilie Autumn
Medication - Garbage
Hurt - Nine Inch Nails
Blind - Placebo

There's a lot more in there, because I'm pretty much the opposite of Sachal. I don't think there's a single song in my library I can't relate to in some way. I've been through too much shit in not even half lifetime, I've pretty much covered most of the common topics of my music.

Music has really played a large part of my life for about six years now. Around 11 or 12, I really started getting into it all. Seems about the normal age. In these past 6 years, I've really gotten to know more of myself through music and have diversified what I listen to. But that's not to say I don't drop bands off my radar when I get bored of them. I might have liked one band about a year or two ago but not so much now. And as I said, music has been that gateway of sorts that I've been able to figure things out and to really learn about my inner personal being than I couldn't have in any other way. Of course it'll probably wear off at some point. Hell, I can't be listening to music forever. But I won't lose my passion for it. Being a musician myself, I can really say that once you get deep into unexplored genres and styles, it just incites you to find more and more. You just have this compelling urge to dig as deep as you can. That's the joy I find in music, being able to find things that you wouldn't have found in the first place.

And no, I'm not going to pretend to be some dipshit little 13 year old who says "LOL MUSIK ISH MAH LYFFFFFFF!!!!". Most people who say this really don't know what it means to make music your entire life. Some people, however, are able to live that type of life and I admire them for that.

Music is my main way of expressing my emotions. I've always been that kid who will leave mostly everything to himself. But music has been my biggest way of letting myself show to others. So yeah, music's kind of important to me. Not gonna list artists/albums, because there's a lot out there that do, but I haven't heard of or like.

Music. I began liking music around 14 and 15. But I started to have interest in different kind of music quite recently.

Music is not my mirror to my emotions, but to what I think at that moment.

I listen to music just because it sounds good to me, I couldn't really link my emotions to music unless I was trying to wind down. I wouldn't really say I use it as something to do with emotion as the majority of my music is so damn heavy and aggressive, which is not me.

I agree with what dp said. Most of what I listen are devoid of any lyrical content, and they can expel myriads of emotions from just the sounds of the music.

One thing I find with music is that even when the people you trust most walk out on you, its still there. It distracts you from things you need to keep away from and it reminds you of not only bad but good memories too. Idk, funerals, days out, birthdays, even people. I listen to music for a lot of reasons, mainly lyrics I can relate to and to remind me of significant times in my life and memories. Especially the music concerts I've been to. They create good memories that give you something to hold on to when you don’t think there is anything. You can attach memories to people, but once those people are gone what do you have? But when you attach memories to experiences like concerts and to things like music you’ve got them for life.

I copied this from my tumblr, i posted something about music a few days ago and this just happens to fit.

Music has always been a big part of my life. From a young age my dad introduced me to music he used to listen to such as Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and The Who etc. As i got older I developed my own music taste but yeah. Its only mainly since i was 12-13-14 i really began to get so into it and things, my ipod is barely ever away from me anymore :P

Yeah dude me to for sure I keep to my self and have a hard time expressing how i feel so I just find that song with the right lyerics or whatever I just listen to them over and over again till the feeling has past but I also do enjoy all kinds of music I will give almost everything a chance.

Yeah for sure I grew up with mostly my grand pas music but I remember beign into my own kinda music when I was like 9 or 10 but I didn't start to look up lyrics of songs and what not till I was around 12-14 and I have always loved a wide range of music.

Ive been listening to music ever since i was about 6, and it was music that i shouldnt be listening to at that age, but i was, because i can relate to it easily.
It helps me feel like what ive been through isnt entirely unique in a general sense, that is, other people have also gone through it, and they are using media and creativity to express their emotions?

For me, the music that means a lot to me in my life is comprised of entire albums:

Korn- Korn (1994)
Korn- Life is Peachy (1996)
Korn- Follow The Leader (1998)
Korn- Issues (1999)
Korn- Take a Look in The Mirror (2003)
Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory
Nortt- Gudsforladt (2004)

All pretty neat music, but Korn especially, its so easy to relate to because of what ive been through, its almost empowering, i mean i listen to Korn and im thinking 'wow this dudes been through the same shite as me, yet here he is, successful as hell, hes outta the crap', and idk it sometimes even gives me confidence?
Eep but tbh im kinda dependant on my music, i cant live without it.
