if you pick scabs and squeeze them for them to bleed.

Personally, I do count picking scabs as self-harm, if they're the newer ones. I do the same with older ones, but that doesn't do a thing because they're no longer open and that's just a compulsive habit of mine. If you pick then and they open, I'd say yes.

It counts if you are doing it for the reason of causing harm to yourself, but not if you do it unaware.

I tend to pick scabs out of habit, so I'm not sure. I'd say if you did it to cause yourself harm, then yes it counts. So I'm not sure, I think it's up to you. If you didn't want to hurt yourself, then no, but if you did it because you wanted to feel pain, then yeah, it counts. Even if you only wanted to feel pain because you were bored. If that makes sense?

Well, I'd treat it like anything else. Trichotillomania is habit, it's still considered self-harm. Same with my Dermatophagia. Self-harm is harming yourself on purpose, whether it's because you're bored or not really.

I pick my scabs all the time. Personally for me, I don't feel as it is self harm, but it is intentionally hurting yourself in a way. So I'm half and half. : 3

I wouldn't say so, I mean, if a little kid is sat picking his scabs out of boredom/interest, you're not gonna go all 'omg he self harms, he needs to see a therapist quick' are you? So it shouldn't be any different for us, even though we do self harm. It's not for that reason so whats the problem?

I don't know, technically I think it is. It's included in the list of self harming behaviors. And for all you know you maybe be doing it subconsciously in order to hurt, I'm not sure? But I wouldn't worry about it until you're sure you've stopped with the more serious self harm.

I tend to only class it as self harm when you're doing it to actually intentionally cause harm to yourself. If its just force of habit then I don't really.
