VT, I'm looking for alt. hip-hop. I've taken an interest in it, and I'm sure the masters of the genre here will give me more to download. I'm especially looking for more instrumental hip-hop, as the only album I have from that subgenre is Apollo Brown's Clouds.
Here's some stuff I've gotten recently, to give you an idea of what this thread should be like. Almost all of this is from those of you who posted in the download thread in the Monolith – thanks, guys.

That probably falls under the term 'alternative'.
Go for it, man.

Ok so I was planning on posting these in my Hip Hop thread, but it just seems so much better here since Prince Paul is pretty much the godfather of Alternative and Genre-Blending Hip Hop(including "Jazz Rap")...plus his solo albums are instrumental/skit albums, I'd honestly some of his albums like Psychoanalysis Avant Garde. He's knows how to do almost every type of Hip Hop imaginable, he's been behind countless classics, he's succesfully blended almost every genre with Hip Hop (and was one of the first to do it) and he's an extremely underappreciated producer.

Note: Most of these albums are completely different from each another.

Alternative Rap refers to hip hop groups that refuse to conform to any of the traditional stereotypes of rap, such as gangsta, bass, hardcore, and party rap. Instead, they blur genres - drawing equally from funk and rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk.

I'm going to criticize every post I want to criticize. There's no point in giving someone like you music suggestions when you'll pretend to care. I know this for a fact, because that time Adam sent you a song that was neo-classical you pretended to listen to it and said it was "progressive rock".
The description of Alt Rap which I'm guessing comes from wikipedia is stupid. Why? Because some artists that can claim to be Alt Rap still have that gangsta, bass, party, and hardcore rap in it. It's very true. I'm not a fan of Kanye West. In fact I hate him, but his music would then be considered Alt Rap because of the beats and production he used on his *latest two albums which doesn't consider to fit in with what most mainstream rap. Although on the other hand he was rapping about how awesome he is still on every song and putting the 'pussy in sarcophagus.' That's why I only go by the sub genre definitions of certain rap or put more description on it then just alternative rap, because that would just be dumb.
You want a recommendation? AJ has all of it and nobody else on VT will give you anything good because there's only a few people on this site dedicated to actually giving a fuck about music.

I do download the music people suggest to me. Obviously, I can't get around to everything, and sometimes I overlook things, but I thought it was pretty well known that I do take into consideration what people post in my recommendation thread. Contrary to what you may believe, a lot of the music I download comes from VT.
What benefit do I get from asking people for music and then not caring about it? None, obviously, I don't try to make myself look open minded by doing this. I'm genuinely looking for new music to download.

That's a reasonable argument, but I believe the definition Wiki uses for "alternative hip-hop" covers most of the music I'm looking for.
I'm not going to argue in this thread with you. I think it's unfortunate that you think I don't care about other people's suggestions.
This thread is about sharing music, not about me.

It still stands pretty damn well.

Ok, I've seen people pretend to care about things and pretend that they like allot of different types of music, even if they can't stand what they were just listening to. People do it all the time! Mainly hipsters. I'm not calling you one, but I'm saying that's what I believe you've done for a while.
That's a reasonable argument, but I believe the definition Wiki uses for "alternative hip-hop" covers most of the music I'm looking for.
So my argument is good, but you're accepting everything in the wide range, which would include artists like Kanye West.
This thread is about sharing music, not about me.
I've seen sharethreads with two hundred posts and only a few recommendations at times on music forums before. That's usually how things go. Like I said, you're not going to get anything else from anyone other than AJ, well Faris too sense he's pretty wide to music, not me right now, and well, Sage if he cares to help.

there's allot of sub-genre's in rap.
Sub-genres as in fairly well defined terms (like subgenres of most other genres)...not really. Not compared to the number of different forms and styles of Hip Hop their are that are almost completely undefined. Most of the sub-genre labels of Hip Hop are really broad.
Edit: Dalek? Fuck yeah Faris. Dalek is the shit.

That was pretty good. I like how it focused more on the texture and mood of the song, rather than the vocals.
Have any more?
