Okay so like my period is really heavy. Usually it hurts for the first day or two, I take a bunch of advil, and it's all good. After that I dont usually get anymore cramps. Well yesterday, Ive had my period for maybe 4 or 5 days already, and I was like watching a movie and eating a whole bunch of ice cream - it was called Raspberry Chip Royale, I really love raspberry anything. Anyway that is beside the point, after I ate all the ice cream, it was a lot, but I wasnt feeling nauseous or anything. Then the really bad cramps started coming back and I was like lying in my bed for 3 hours, writhing in TERRIBLE pain. It was so bad that I had to cry a lot so I could exhaust myself and sleep it off.
My question is, can like certain foods or something set off the cramps? Because now Im scared to eat any ice cream, or raspberry flavoured stuff while I have my period. My parents thought I was dying, I kept like screaming and moaning it was bad. AM I just paranoid, or can food give you extreme cramps?

Well. Depending on how much food you eat, you can have really bad cramps from over-eating. As you said you love rasberry, its possible you ate too much food, and your stomach just couldnt take it. It might have had something to do with your period, it may have had something to do with the food. Or maybe its just the time of year. :P Alot of people i know have been having pains (including me) during this time of year. Like last year for example, boxing day, i had appendisitis(sp?) and had to go to the hospital. It just seems to be the time of year. So to answer your question, its possible for that to happen from food, but a 3 hour cramp, unlikely.

if that was the only time that u had cramps for 3 hours then it was probly food or w/e but if it starts to happen often then you should go see a doctor

See a doc, they can give you medicine, my sister has birth control in doses to help with cramps, birth control is just hormones.

I dont think my mom would let me get birth control, she'd say just take advil and deal with it.

Is there anyway you could talk to your doctor and your mum at the same time to come up with a solution? Maybe birth control would be beneficial for you? have you asked your mum about it?
You shouldnt have to be writhing in pain because of your period.
Im sorry sweetie :(

Thanks for all of the responses =]
And Ive tried pamprin before, doesnt work for me. I mean it's okay but I still feel a dull pain, where as a few advil takes it all away for a couple of hours and then I just take more.
I think next time I see the doctor I will ask about this. My mom also had a period like mine, very heavy and painful, so she'll understand I guess. And Ive always thought about birth control, it can even give you less periods a year, right? That would be wonderful. But if I brought it up, I don't know how my mother would feel about it. I personally know that I wouldnt abuse it and go out and have sex since Im taking the pill, but dont know what my mom would think. She trusts me but not as much as she used to. I guess Ive done a lot to surprise her, that she wouldnt feel comfortable letting me take birth control.

I learnt at school the birth control pill helps girls who have heavy periods.
