I'm 15 years old, I'm 5 feet 8 inches, and according to my scales, I've been losing weight for a while now. I used to weight 185lbs, and I started to cut down on my foot intake and worked out from time to time since June of 2006. I now weight 165lbs (according to the scales), but I don't think it's healthy weight loss. Although the scales say I'm losing weight, and my knees are definetely feeling better, I still feel very overweight. It feels like a double-chin has grown (and I believe it's very visible), and it bothers the hell out of me.

I'm also worried that my body is just eating itself, due to my low-calorie diet. I typically try to just barely get enough, making sure I intake over 1,000 calories. However, this is easy, because I only eat 3 meals a day, with no snacks (except for the occasional bag of popcorn for movies), so I do not feel like I'm starving myself or anything. I don't do much cardio, but I still lose weight. I learned that your body goes for two things when it needs energy: eats your muscles first, and then eats your fat. And I weightlift, and it busts my balls to believe that all my work is being countered by my body eating it away.

I weightlift every other day, and it gets my heart beating to about 2-3 beats per second, and I do sweat, but it's not like running. Somedays my body aches were my muscles are, and feel weak afterwards, and I'm afraid that my body is eating my muscles. But, I'm not sure if it's just from lifting, or from atrophy.

So, I ask 4 questions.

1. What's a way to get rid of my double chin?
2. How am I losing weight, even though I'm not really working out that much, and should I be worried?
3. Should I be eating more?
4. Are my aches from lifting, or from my body eating the muscle?

Thanks for reading my insecurities.

1. As stupid as this may sound, try facersize. It's sort of when you do weird face movements/mouth movements in order to tone up your face. Look it up on Google. x] Also chewing gum helps to tone the muscles around that area which may benefit to youuu.
2. You said you cut down on your food intake, which is probably why you're losing so much weight. Yes, in a way it is sort of like your body is eating itself, but don't worry. Seriously, I wish my body would do that. xD Make sure you're eating a healthy diet though and it'll all be ok. :]
3. If you're eating all the right foods in the right proportions then you shouldn't need to eat more.
4. Probably from the lifting if you haven't done a sufficient warm up before hand, or a good cool down afterwards. :]] Make sure you stretch the muscles you're about to use/have used before and after and the aches should go away.

Haha, sorry I rambled a bit. xB

OOOOKKKAAAY, i just want to clear up someting for u. Although if u were to burn muscle, it would provide more energy for ur body than fat, it takes alot to burn muscle. i asked this question to someone who knows what they're talking about and he said ur body first goes at the carbs, then at the fat. u only need to worry about burning away muscle if ur goin like running for 3 hours or if ur working out while ur basically anorexic and not eating enough. seriously, ur weight doesnt matter, its the % of body fat to the weight, height, sex and age you are. im assuming ur a guy (sorry i dont know for sure but "and it busts my balls to" ) so u need more calories per day and a girl. at 15, you're eating alot less than it would b healthy for a girl to eat each day and you're a guy and u need more. what u need to do, rahter than not eat, is eat just a little less and pay attention to nutrition facts. ur actually supposed to eat a small meal/healthy snack every 3 hours which keeps ur metabolism going at agood rate and you dont get the completely full fealing. u need to pay attention to ammount of fat, calories from fat, sat./trans fats, CHOLESTEROL, and sugar. keep those down, exercise (cardio and strength) and ull get the results u want. but u need to put in the effort to exercise and pay attention to nutrition facts
