(6.1 magnitude earthquake hits northern philippines on march 20)

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a 6.1-magnitude quake struck the northern Philippine provinces including the capital city, Manila on March 20, 2011 at 4:26PM.

The Institute located the epicenter of the 39-KM deep tectonic quake at 122 kilometers northeast of Laoag City.

Philvolcs also reported that the quake was felt at Intensity 5 in Pasuquin and Pagudpud Ilocos Norte; Intensity 4 in Calayan Island and Paoay, Ilocos Norte; Intensity 3 in Basco, Batanes; Sinait, Ilocos Norte and the towns of Gonzaga and Calamaniogan in Cagayan, and Manila City; and Intensity 2 in Baguio City.

Aftershocks are also expected according to the institute's bulletin of the said seismic activity.

There has been no damages reported.

(Earthquake Hits Manila, Philippines)

Earthquake felt in Manila and other parts of Luzon at exactly 06:36:49 PM tonight, March 21, 2011.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) it was a 5.4 magnitude quake with epicenter at Mindoro.

However, PHIVOLCS Dir. Renato Solidum says the agency measures quake at 5.7 magnitude.

This is already the 3rd consecutive day that an earthquake with above 4.5 magnitude was felt in the Philippines.

According to the USGS, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake was felt in Mindanao last March 19 and a 5.9 magnitude quake hit Babuyan Islands Region on March 20.

(just worried coz japan is a near by country.. and we experienced 3 consecutive days of earthquakes.. well i do hope for our safety..)

silly!! what branch?!?.... well i was at my house sitting in front of my laptop then i feel like someone is shaking me i dont know what to do .. i just hide in our double deck bed ... well i hope we will be safe.. not only Filipinos but the whole man kind as well ... :)

Wow, I'm glad there wasn't much damage.


Some scientists are saying that the cause for a lot of earthquakes is that the earth is moving again...

Oh speaking of which, some guy predicts somewhere on the west coast of North America is going to get a bad earthquake....

and he predicted the '89 world series earthquake, New Zeland's earthquake, Chile's, and Japan's days before they happened..

He made his prediction a few days ago..

That doesn't make him a valid source of all knowledge.
