Have any of you actually experienced a major weightloss by actually persevering and trying to workout and eat healthy? How old were you? What did you do, and how long did it take you to reach your "goal"?

i lost 30 pounds after freshman year, which is not a ton but it's ok. the main key for me was counting calories/tracking nutrition (via http://www.fitday.com). I'm not some zealot, but doing that for a couple of months has meant that nowadays I'm pretty much aware of what I'm eating without having to look. the problem is i also play squash 6 days a week or so, and it's a very intense sport calorie-wise, so all i really had to do was stop eating like total shit.
lessons:
1) keep some kind of food diary and focus on meeting nutrition/calorie goals.
2) find some kind of exercise that you like and can do a lot.
