You have to admit, its the perfect way to clean up all thats space debris. This is probably the most intelligent ideas I have ever come up with, and im pretty dull, so bear with me.

With no intention to ruin your idea:

Since when did we have space debris? 8O

1700 B.C.
Not really.
Since the time man started sending things into space.

Is space debris really that big of a problem? I wasn't aware it was...

Apparently, the debris can damage the things we send up there (satellites, space shuttles, dead babies), but poses little threat to us down here.

It's not stealing if they came up with it first.

>they obviously stole it
Space debris isn't a problem to me. Really, what concern is it of ours? It'll all just float out into the vast reaches of oblivion anyway. Let it be.

It's a problem when it can fuck shit up, i.e. satellites. And I don't gravity will allow it to just float away.

They're mainly concerned about the debris hitting shuttles, satellites, etc. If you have ever seen the begining of WALL-E, it is a person's view on how space debris will become.
Here's a picture I managed to come up with:

Anyways if it managed to hit a satellite it could knock it out, temporary effecting phones, interenet, etc. until the satellite was able to be fixed or a new one was sent up.

We're not sending away that much trash into space by today, so I think it's okay if we just let it be.

Here's something I happened to come across in a magazine at breakfast a few minutes ago.

There are roughly 100 million pieces of debris currently orbiting Earth. Any of these could hit a satellite easily.

So...there's gravity in space? When did this happen? :P

Gravitational pull. I know what I'm talking about, yo.

Trollin' ya dawg.
Back to the subject at hand: it doesn't seem like that much of a problem. Unless the vast vacuum of space becomes like a landfill, then I would see a need to clean the debris. Right now, however, it doesn't seem like many people are that worried.

Or it's just not talked about frequently.

i think we have bigger problems than space junk floating around but it could be a big problem so yea it'd work and apparently the japanese are working on it so we should be fine

I'd imagine any work from the Japanese concerning space debris has been put to a halt now. And just because the Japanese are working on something doesn't mean we'll be fine. They've had failures just like any other country.
