Well, I saw Dark Defender's thread and thought I'd do something similar. No clue why I haven't yet, it seems much easier than hours of looking through crap suggestions on iTunes...

Music suggestions anyone? I'm into a lot of indie pop/rock, industrial rock, darkwave, synthpop mainly. A bit of alt. rock and symphonic/power metal as well. I guess some of my favourite bands would help.

The Dresden Dolls, Emilie Autumn, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Garbage, Placebo, Radiohead, Imogen Heap, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Airborne Toxic Event, Nightwish, The Birthday Massacre.

There are probably more that could be on that list. My iTunes library is my reference point and I lost a lot of my music when my hd died.

inb4 my music taste sucks. I know, I know, no need to tell me.

There's probably an overlap but you might like some of the rubbish (http://www.youtube.com/user/Desus47) I listen to.

I don't know, perhaps you'd like Cage The Elephant? (not that I do)

If not... meh, try some Cloud Control or Slow Club.

Skinny Puppy - they are considered as one of the most influental group Industrial scene. Unlike KMDMF, who are electronic orieanted, SP used different methods to make their material sound like an actual industrial stuff.

I recommend Too Dark Park, first, and the The Process.

Oh, and MM is not industrial. If you see any rivethead, tell them that you listen to SP. :p

Next.

X-Fusion - they are a decent aggrotech group, that even rivetheads agree that XF is good.
Get any album.

Follows by.
ASP - they are a German darkwave group with industrial influences. Get Weltunter. If you tell goths you like this rather than MM, good things will happen.

Next
Greifenkeil - this is what you get when you fuse Gothic elements to Industrial. Get any of their work.
That's it for recommendations.

I recognise some of the Stoner Sludge and Sludge doom people in there. :)

Two bands I would recommend:

Kidneythieves (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNTJRAVm4Vo) (Industrial Metal)
Explosions in the Sky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnTCwg7-UKg) (Post Rock)

Wow, there is an interesting overlap. A lot of bands we do share, never expected that. I've started listening through for a bit, though it'll take a while to get through the rest, I've already found a good deal I've favourited to look into later.

Cage The Elephant: Nah, not quite. Don't know what it is I don't like about them though.
Cloud Control: That was a bit closer, actually. I'll be checking them out.
Slow Club: Same with these guys. I stopped after the first song I clicked on cause I liked it enough :P

I never said MM was industrial :P
And I can't really help that I like them. I know they're cliche and such, but it's hard to deny they've got some good music.

Anyway, the first two were a bit much for me. I mentioned industrial rock mainly because I'm not too into plain industrial. ASP though, I liked them. I'll have to look into them as well. The last one, I could only listen to clips on iTunes as there weren't any of their songs on youtube. They sounded interesting, just the same thing goes as the first two.

My dad likes Kidneythieves oddly enough. I'm familiar with them, never been into them though for some reason. They pop up on Pandora often for me as well. I liked Explosions in the Sky, a lot. Another band on my list to investigate.

You might like PJ Harvey.

Certainly. If not her own albums, she was also really good in The Desert Sessions 9/10.

You might want to explore Post Rock, then. It's a very interesting genre.

Also Portishead, Electrelane, Phantogram and Beck if you're looking for indie and/or alternative.

If you like The Cure, try Joy Division. The cure based most of their music on them. And White Lies are pretty similar to The Cure. And Clan of Xynox, don't listen to them but my dad is a die hard Cure fan and is now obsessed with them ><

I have a couple of Clan of Xymox. They are not so bad and not so good darkwave group.

I'm definitely into PJ Harvey, I'll have to go looking around for one of her albums.

Electrelane and Phantogram really caught me as well, especially Phantogram actually. Beck was an interesting listen, still looking into him a bit more. With how many views he's got on youtube, you'd think I would have heard of him before now XD

White Lies I liked. I'm excited about Clan of Xymox though. Another band to put on my list of "CDs to buy."

Wow, like I thought, this is proving much more efficient than my usual methods of music searching :P

I would suggest you join Last.fm (http://www.last.fm) then. It will give you recommendations based on your current library of artists. Really useful for finding new music.

I signed up for that site, we'll see how much it helps.

Ordered a few CDs of bands that were suggested. I didn't get that many because I'm on a tight budget, but I did get PJ Harvey's, I believe, first album, among others.

The Dear Hunter is a pretty good band.

Porcupine Tree too.
