I need a car that will last in 120F+ weather in the summer, and 18F+ in the winter. I also need it to be good off-road, as I am in Las Vegas and my friends and I frequently go out into the desert.
I have been thinking of getting a jeep wrangler, I see alot of them here.
Thanks for the suggestions in advance, btw :D

Jeep wranglers are good but it depends on ur budget.
4x4's cost a lot to buy and are gas guzzlers. But if u can afford it go for a wrangler. It's such a cool car as u can easily take the doors and roof off and have an ultra cool 4x4

A VW doesnt seem like the kind of car to drive in the desert off road, I think im gonna stick to a jeep.

i would go with a subaru, its decent off road, livable on the road, not too thirsty and reliable, but if you tell me your budget i could probably come up with a better solution, the wrangler is great but it's not the most livable car to deal with every day, it's more of a weekend car, at least from my experience

My friend has a 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5XT. Looks like it would be good for your needs, as long as you aren't doing serious off-roading.
And its a hell of a lot faster than it looks too. 0-60 in around 5.5 seconds :D

Oh i forgot i had another question, by off roading do you mean dune running, or like legit rock climbing?

what you have been thinking is correct. jeeps are very reliable vehicles of road and in the elements. (heat, cold etc.) and if you are plannin on dune running or "legit rock climbing" (@suraj) i would recommend adding modifications (i.e. lift kit, shocks, upgraded drive train, sand tires, role cage, where im from an "oh sh** bar" and many many more.) to a wrangler or any vehicle to meet your needs.
@suraj i agree with you its is not a very livable vehicle because the mind set of jeep is the simpler the better the less high tech stuff the less stuff you can mess up and have to fix.
hope this helps

For the desert, the Jeep is perfect.
Since Kuwait is just a desert, people pick only American and Japanese cars. There are who buy European cars, but these cars are modified specifically for the mid-east.

A SUBARU! Its the best AWD in the world (proven) last forever, great mpg(4cyl boxer engine) fantastic power and 5* crash test ratings. Its also lightweight:D I have a subaru imprexa wrx sti 2.5RS year- 2000. and i got it used for 5k. Subaru leads the rally world so youll be fine off-road and in the dunes:)

Remember.... With any type of special packages like Type S, 4X4, Powerwagon. The insurance increases. Also it can increase with the certain amount of Cylinders, and the price of gas is increasing. With it being your first car it would not be good for you to get a gas guzzler unless you have a well paying job or you parents pay for everything. Me, I live out sort of in the country area of West Palm Beach. I have a 2006 GMC Canyon (4 Cyl & My First Car) that can pull my dads 21' Triton Bass boat with no problem. But, my dad wanted it after he sold his Ram 3500. Sooooooo.... He got me a 95' Ford Mustang Convertible (V6). It can handle the rough terrain out here.
Long story short: I suggest either finding a small truck with good gas mileage..... Or.... Find an economical car...

You should go with a Jeep like me!! Wrangler if you can aford the added insurance or you can go with a Cherokee and have cheaper insurance rates and with a couple modifications you can go almost anywhere... Just dont turn into me and spend $3200 on the jeep and then spend another $4000 - $5000 on adding stuff to it... and dont go out a break something offroading... it costs a buncha money too...

No offense but thats a horrible first car for the desert. VWs up until very recent had water pumps with plastic impellers that broke and overheated the car. This will be ore likely to happen in 120 degree weather. I drive a BMW in similar desert weather, with the same cooling system weak points and there isn't a summer I dont spend at least 500-700 on something coolant system related. :-( Whats your price range? If I wanted something for off roading I would get one of these

Not my cup of tea in the looks department but its cheap and its a very competent off roader!
