Why didn't/doesn't anyone try and stop it when its fucking happening? Why? Seriously, why? Scared to get involved or just plain don't give a fuck? Anyone know?

The same reason people don't help that random old lady crossing the street. A. They're too preoccupied with their own lives, B. They only like to get into other's business when they will benefit from it, and C. Fear.
Damn, if people actually did help when they saw something, I wouldn't have had to wait around until the rest of my family started to figure it out, when outsiders had long known what was going on.

Fear, and making assumptions.
The idea 'if there wasnt really abuse, and i report it, it'll hurt every one'. No it's not true, but it's the common thought unfortunately.
You know how to contact, talk to me

Me and my cousin Just got jumped on St. pattys day cause we saw a guy hit his girl friend then brag about it. And my cousin had to say something to him. It makes me sick that guys out there think it ok to do shit like that but most people are to scared about what might happen to them me and my cousin got jumped while I told my buddy alex to call the cops that whould be the best thing to do if you think you can help then pack up the courage and do it but if not at least call the police I don't understand what is so hard about that.

A lot of things, honestly. I've got a kid sister, for one. For another, they've been called and nothing changed.

I'm guessing you mean this in terms of people actually witnessing abuse.
In many cases people aren't going to be abused in the public and most people don't know if abuse is even going on because the victim is in shame, guilt, and etc... Uh, if it is in a family, some people might not want to get involved because they don't want the family torn apart or they might not want to get hurt themselves. It's not selfish, it's about being confused and scared. Nobody can understand situations like these unless they've been in one and then you have to realize people take things differently.

I mean a kid is being hit in a hospital hallway, and the next time the kid is in for another injury related to it, the same doctor does nothing. That's the kind of abuse I mean. It makes sense for them to be scared and confused, it just bothers me that no one really steps in. =/
