Well?
should it be a bridge into the Muslim world?
or should it be a 300 pound anchor to a paper boat?
AS a side post, whats your viewpoint on the EU and the Euro?

It would certainly be alot of work to grant them into the EU as there is a large amounts of tradition would be unacceptable by the EU government like several allegations agains human rights in the country and the discussions over Cyprus' independence. Technical, food and health and safety standards are also vast and the country seems stubborn to change many of these factors. Turkey has also been in talks to join the European Union for around 30 years, so I don't honestly see it happening any time soon.
This is only a very brief evaluation and i'm sure once Cengiz gets in he'll be all over my ass :P
On the European Union? I like it, it's necessary for the survival of Europe as a world power and only by the unification of these states will the continent be able to survice economically. Effectively the European Union can be seen as the most prosperous of Trading blocs even being to go as far as introduce its own currency, which despite the recession has seen gradual growth. The European Union also brings a wide variety of benefits to all its members in the continent the like of which could be noted as: Technical standards on all produce as well as health & safety and food standards, unfortunately this is at the loss of national image of countries, which sees heavy dispute in many nations.
My only real problem with the EU is the lack of democracy, new legislations are implemented without the decision of the public and instead by European officials in Brussels and this could see serious outcry if more serious decisions are made at this autocratic standard. Realisticly I can see the EU only improving and I'm sure several claims of if things keep going as they're going the EU effectively becoming its own nation or a new rate of advanced trading bloc that shares similarities to a Federal state.

*Ahem*
First of all, European Union is a Christian Union therefore nobody wants us in EU. If we are in, they would need to pay loads of money to us since they need to balance our economy to the Union in general. They keep coming with new rules for us to join, to stall our membership and they will continue doing that. And there are many things which would be impossible for Turks to accomplish. And since EU cares a lot about human rights, and we have a so called "A Grim Human Rights Record", we won't be allowed in.
About Cyprus I have to disagree. They were killing Turks there and since we can never get what rightfully belongs us a diplomatic table, we had to use force to protect the Turks there and grant them a country to live.
Me? In my opinion we shouldn't be in there. Not only because Europe will hate us more, but because the country will change from it's very foundations and the peasantry here will be as mad as hell. Besides, we would need to give more money to Greece. A money which will be wasted in repairing Greek revolt damage and money which will never be repaid.
I also think the way EU goes is not good. Don't ask me why.

I can say only one thing on this one,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO!!!!Not because they are muslim, but because their government is a semi dictatorist piece of crap...they want to be part of EU but don't recognize Cyprus(the normal Greek part, not the occupied bloody one which is again another reason why they shouldn't be a part) if you are from Europe you will know that from the start of bigger ottoman empire their goal is to have a huge territory in Europe,do you think that they stopped dreaming of that? And only a small part of it is actually in Europe, like 15-20 % so why the hell would anyone want EU bordering Iraq,Iran, syria and so on...??? ps.i am sorry for being bit aggresive on this one,but...neither Germany nor France wants it in EU,do you think it is without a reason?

1- We don't want Europe, our goal is worldwide domination
2-We DO recognize the Greek Cyprus
3-If giving freedom to Turks in Cyprus is an excuse for not being allowed in EU, then being in EU should be something way bad.
4- I totally agree oru government is made of a fascist and dictator group, AND religious extremeists.
5-So you people admit that EU is a christian union, not economic.
Nevertheless, I would hate to see Turkish economy perish in EU

no turkey doesnt recognize greek part, there was a news about a month ago that cyprus will be on the head of eu for 6 months and thus turkey had problems with putting Cyprus's flag in Istanbul,i dont remember what was it about... here is a copy from some old news i found... BRUSSELS — Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul of Turkey on Wednesday resisted pressure from the European Union on Cyprus, saying Turkey would recognize the island's government only after a full settlement on its reunification.

Cengiz, please drop the "Christian Union" thing, it's foolish. The EU couldn't have less to do with religion. Also the Turkish economy if they joined and made the amendments as part of demand would more than likely grow, through the benefits that a Trading bloc brings.

well the only way i would accept turkey to be a part of EU is to give back the occupied part of Cyprus which belongs to Cypriot-Greek people and not to the Turks, i know it's sound impossible to kick people out of their houses but the Turks did the same thing with the Cypriots, they invade into Cyprus and kick people out of their houses
i m not racist against Turks or something i just believe they should give back what they took with violence and they had no right to do it
