i had the bottom of my tummy button pierced the middle of Feb
i have kept up with the cleaning of it as best i can but it looks a little red and theres a small amount of whitey green puss coming out of it if i push it too far
is this a proper infection or will it go if i keep cleaning it corectly?

Is the pus water-like or thick?
You may have an infection, but you usually get infections right after you get the piercing pierced. You may be over cleaning it, or cleaning it too rough. Clean it once or twice a day gently, and don't try to push it at all. Try to not touch it as much as possible. If you do have to touch it, wash your hands first.
If the pus gets worst and it gets more red/irritable, I'd suggest going to the doctor. You may need to get some antibiotics in case you do have an infection.

i have caught it a couple of times but tonight i noticed it was red and my skin had fused round the metal so i wiggled it free and thats when i found the puss.
ill keep cleaning it and yea if i t gets any worse ill go to my doctors about it :(

Yeah, about once a day when you're cleaning the piercing, wash your hands and move the piercing around in a circle to make sure the skin doesn't grow around it.

Katie pretty much said it all.
If the infection gets really bad, however, you may have to remove the ring and let it close. That's what I had to do when I got my ears peirced the first time.
You might also be allergic to the kind of silver/gold/metal that the naval ring is made of.

can i cover it with a plaster for work or would that make it worse?

Maybe put some weak tape over it...I say weak so it won't hurt when you take it off. Just strong enough to hold on so the ring wont catch on anything. :)

I didn't think you were supposed to take infected piercings out, it gets more junk in it and gets it more infected. just go back to your piercer

Hollister is right...it is probably safer to go to the peircer. :P
