ok so it seems that 9 times out of 10 they find out, should i get it over with just now or see if i can stop by myself first.
tbh my mums not much of a problem we barely talk anyway but my gran and granda practically brought me up and i really dont want to hurt them, i dont want them to think they failed or anything but its getting harder to keep this a secret.

Yes most of the time your parents will find out eventually, whether it's through you telling them, them seeing cuts, them guessing, school finding out or you ending up in hospital, they usually find out.

You will hurt them much less if you tell them now. If they realise that you trusted them enough to tell them about your problem they will not think they failed. If you leave it until later, when they find out rather than you telling them they may feel betrayed and lied too. That's when they feel like they failed. Even worse if you need to be in hospital for self harm or a suicide attempt, that'll hurt them so much.

I think as soon as you know you can't stop, you should seek help before it develops further.
