View Full Version : She's already dead

She wanted to go back
She wanted to slip back behind the cover
The cover of a fake smile that could hide anything
A fake smile could hide the scars
the insanity
the mess she had become.

It was too late now.
They all knew.
They all stared.
Not a moments peace from the never ending looks.
The pity.
The disgust.
The fear.
All the things she didn't want.

She wanted to be left alone.
Alone to do as she pleased.
Alone to prove to herself she was still alive,
through the blood and the pain.
Alone to destroy herself, cut by cut.
To disappear without a trace.

That option was gone now.
Her freedom, taken away.
Her right to die, gone.
The pills where hidden, by an untrusting mother.
That's all they see of her now.
Something to just keep alive.
To keep breathing.
To keep living.
But what they don't see.
The guilt.
She hurt them.
She didn't want this.
She can't deal with what she's done

She may still be breathing,
But she's already dead.

I love it, but in a bad way, if that makes sense?
It makes me sad, but that's the sign of a good poem. :P
It's beautifully written.
