Hey guys,

Two reasons i am creating this thread really.

1. Its somewhere for me to keep a few links to components. (gonna format tommorow)
2. id like to share my new build with a few of you on here

So basically, ive got some (alot) of money coming in next month so i thought ill treat myself to a new PC. (and donate my old one to a good friend who is having trouble with thier old pile of scrap)

anyway ive done a few hours research and come up with this monster which i feel will be quite an immense machine when its complete:

CPU:

My CPU choice has really suprise me this time. Normally i use AMD as its cheaper and i do alot of video encoding but this time ive gone with an Intel chip for a few reasons.

The chip ive chosen seems to be faster at gaming and faster at audio production AND video editing than any AMD chip on the market. (untill bulldozer? who knows.)

Ive gone for an Intel core i7-2600k 3.40Ghz 1155 Socket CPU.

Motherboard:

My choice as always is with a Gigabyte board. Always had Gigabyte, always will. Only 1 has failed me out of the 7 or 8 ive had. When that one did fail i got excellent customer service that i would recommend.

Gone with a fast, nice looking DDR3 dual channel main board. The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4 Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard

Graphics Card:

Now this is a big choice again. Always gone ATI because of video encoding however my gaming is now taking a priority so i think its time i went to Nvidia. And of course im going to go with the fastest card that have.

The Nvidia GTX580 1.5GB Fermi.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...14&subcat=1812

I think i may even double on on those in the future.

Memory (RAM):

The fastest DDR2 on the market isnt fast enough anymore, its time to upgrade to the fastest DDR3. Two of these kits should provide me with enough RAM and massive speed.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=8&subcat=1387

Hard Drives:

Or in this case SSD's. I feel that a boot time of 23 and a half seconds is just too slow these days. And preloading FPS maps into the RAM is too much work for 2 hours worth of gaming. So ive opted for Solid state drives. People seem to choose the slow and expensive intel drives for some reason. With a read/write speed of 70mbs they are fast but not as fast as the new sandforce V2 controller that reads AND writes at 500/550mbs. (in RAID) They are also alot cheaper.

2 of those to bring me to 120GB should be fine.

Going to have a 1TB spinpoint in there as well for normal storage. Music/DVDs ect.

Everything Else:

Well as already its a powerful build its gonna need a powerful PSU behind it:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...23&subcat=1082

For my case im sticking with the one i have at the moment. The BitFenix Survivor Core:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=7&subcat=1850

In the optical drive department, im going blue ray as i feel my 32 inch tv/monitor is wasted on a DVI connection. So im going full HD on HDMI. Might as well get some movies in there as well.

Cooling is gonna be an issue and i know that i should probably go with water or maybe LN2 O: but im going to put my faith in air for the time being and trust my trusty 220mm fan in the top of my case along with the 2 120s and a cooler master V8 to cool things down for me.

So thats it basically.

Thanks for reading if you did

Comments/Suggestions are appreciated

TL;DR

IM GETTING A NEW PC AND ITS FAST AS FUCK.

You screwed up ALL of your links, btw. ;)

Looks nice.
I was going to post my new computer build here in a week or two (Once I buy it), but my budget build will look like nothing compared to what you're building. :p

Well, to be honest, I'm still debating that. :p

The case I'm going to be using, is an Antec Nine Hundred: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021
This has already been ordered, and should arrive at my doorstep sometime tomorrow.

And as far as the guts, I pretty much have 3 different configurations that I have laid out.
I am leaning towards the very last one, but it's also the most expensive one I've laid out. The 2 cheaper ones are AMD based, where as the 3rd option is Intel based. I'm pretty much an Intel guy, which is why I'm leaning towards it, but if I don't have the monies, AMD will have to do.
On the first two, I won't be getting a video card for them, not right away at least, as the onboard video will be sufficient enough, and also because they're supposed to be 'budget builds' :p

Also, for my third 'package', I debated on getting a 'Sandy Bridge' processor like you did, but apart from power consumption (And thus heat production), and improved onboard video, they offer little to no improvements for the cost. I also wouldn't be able to upgrade to Intel's new Hexa-Core processors if I wanted to, as the sockets are different.

The first one, would set me back $490

^ Man... get in this thread nao!For Brandon's eyes only (virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=97774)

Yeah, the hex core 1090T and 1050T has an unlocked multiplier of some kind.

I thought some quad core Black Editions has the same thing. Man, it's that. i7 are too expensive.

I will pick Asus, 7 years and still the sumbitch is still working.

My friends' Gigabyte failed him many times.

As for gfx - should I get nv 560Ti or gtx 470? And which product company?
