This poem is all about the earthquake and subsequent disasters in Japan that I'm sure everyone's aware of by now.
Desperate Prayer
As wind steals your breath,
Sat just above sea level
And you tremble alone,
as She seeks to dishevel.
With defiance you sit,
Observe relentless tide,
Barraged by drowned debris,
Under which, children hide.
As whirlpools swirl torment,
In the distance off shore,
You search through house framework,
Hands unwillingly on floor.
As you move splintered wood,
And stare into glacial eyes,
You find yourself bereft,
With no power left.
Rough skin collides in force,
As your hands clasp the air,
But the toxic goes unnoticed,
As you say a desperate prayer.
