Is it Odd not to wanna hug or hold hands?

Recently my best friend told me that im a very cold person.. In the way that whenever we go out on double dates with some fine chicas or im in a committed relationship I never try and embrace or hold the girls hand. When it comes to sex im all for touching and stuff. but now that I think about it I guess its kind of true. Its not something thats common sense or something I wanna do. Holding hands just seems pointless and I know it puts a strain on relationships. If I never had to hug or hold anyone I would be fine and I would never do it. Why am I like this! Could it be one of my many bad past experiences? Did my parents smother me as a child? Am I an Asexual of sorts? What do you guys think?

It sounds like you're simply just not that romantically involved when it comes to your current relationships, which is fine provided the girl you're with is the same. Different people bring out different qualities in others and it seems like you've just not found a girl that brings out the 'hand holding' side of your personality. It doesn't necessarily put a strain on a relationship, nor is it pointless. To some it would seem pointless depending on the nature of a relationship.

In theory, it could be a past experience, but I highly doubt it - otherwise you'd be more likely to have traumatic thoughts or feelings about someone holding your hand. I also doubt that it has anything to do with your sexuality, but that's just my opinion. You're more likely to just be a guy that finds holding hands with your current girlfriend pointless - like you said in the first place :P

Thanks. That helps a little. Maybe I just haven't found the right girl yet.. I have loved girls but even then it wasn't instinct to hold hands/ hug.

My first relationship consisted of seven months with only a couple hugs, only one instance of hand holding, and nothing more. As Fact said, it's all in the girl and what part of you she draws out.

I'm not a fan of holding hands or hugging, either, if that makes you feel any better.

If I'm with a guy, and they hug me, I'm always like "Oh...yeah, people do this. It's normal." I also don't like holding hands very much, I like to be free to talk with my hands, or do something.

Honestly, I could probably go through an entire relationship with minimal physical contact and be perfectly happy.

Don't think of it as strange, just your personal taste. :)
