I just started Prozac three or so weeks ago. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with this anti-depressant, and if so, what? I've heard some good and bad things about Prozac, and I don't know if I want to continue it. However, it seems to be working for my mom and my uncle who've been on it for only God knows how long.

Thanks~ xoxo ^.^

Um, First it has to be in your system for at least 3 weeks before it will start working.
Second, it has been known to make people have dramatic mood swings.
Third, it is better than xanex or any other addictive anti-depressant.

I had a big problem with it
but i think i was on it for wrong reasons
it took over six weeks to kick in and i had semi-bad side affects
well bad enough to stop taking it.
my advice is to only take it if its absolutly necessary

Xanies aren't that addictive, all the benzos' addiction potentials are greatly exaggerated. I get addicted to freakin' water sometimes and I've been able to stop valium after a solid month of daily use, cold turkey, no withdrawal.
But prozac is OK, I prefer st john's wort, that's the only 'herbal' medicine I don't consider complete bullfuck.

Well, I've been taking Sertraline since.. November 2009.. (stopping now, so in a week and like two days they're gone from my life).
I have never gotten any side-effects from it (well, as far as I know I've never had any side-effects from any kind of medicine).

And well, the effects are different from person to person.. And you should be on them for like 3-6 months before you decide if you want to continue or try another kind. Like for (just an example) you they might work perfectly, while for your friend they may be chaos!

But, I would say continue, and see how it works for you. And I hope they're fine and that you will get better.

I don't really know side-effects or anything. I know it's commonly the first drug they'll try, and it doesn't work for a lot of people, but it does work for some. Everyone I've asked who has been on it as an anti-depressant say it never worked. The same went for me.

This is totally right
everyone is different
my thought would be to try it for a couple of months and if you dont like it talk to your doctor about it as he has probably heard your reasons before and will know what to do
