If he lost your ipod, he should buy you a new one, or yes, at least pay for half.

Then he isnt a very good friend. He is obligated to pay for the whole thing, you trusted him with it and he lost it, it is his fault he needs to buy you a new one. If he refuses, talk to your parents and get them to talk to his parents, ipods arent something you should be so careless with, he should have been way more careful.

So I should sue him? I talked to my teacher and he said he would talk to him but i never got an answer back. My parents are in Mecca doing Hajj and they will not come back until Jan. 10. I have winter break and wont be back till Jan. 1. When i come back to school and when my parents come back i will complain

You're screwed, dude. Next time hang on to your stuff.
Suing someone over an iPod is ridiculous and no judge will want to waste his time over something like that. Its not like he stole it from you, you gave it to him and he lost it. If you want to get legal, he didn't sign an agreement saying if it's lost he must pay full price. Tough luck, dude.

Unfortuantely if he refueses, there is nothing you can do. Just keep hassling him about it, and he might eventually give it to you.
