Try to find some more interesting subjects. Viewers of your photography do not want to see pictures of such mundane things as cats, paper and something that can't be identified. Pictures of yourself also don't work too well.

If you want to use the macro mode to capture interesting shots, at least do something interesting with it. Don't take pictures of objects, but go outside and take pictures of wheat, barley, maybe flowers but be careful to avoid the cliché of flower pictures. If you're taking a picture of yourself, you have to be doing something interesting for the photography to really become interesting. I can't post any Larry Clark photography here, but if you look at it you will get the idea of how to take pictures of people. I'm not saying take naked pictures, but just something which the viewer can get something from.
