Do any of you know how to key fast and accurately in a QWERTY keyboard? Fast as in typing 30+ words a minute and with as few mistakes as possible? If so how did you learn how to key that good?
I'm using a program called MicroType 3.0 to help my out with my keying.

I learned to type fast from experiance.
I think I've got 45ish wpm when I'm trying and know what I'm typing. Decentish accuracy.

i average ~40 words per minute on a physical qwerty keyboard, and ~35 on a virtual one. it's just the more you text, the faster you get. if you want to get fast, text more.

Well type like 45 or 50 on a physical keyboard but now I have an all touch screen phone no physical keyboard so I'm not as fast yet

Simply by typing over time
If you do it often enough you'll just get faster as you go
or try doing what i do when im bored
find a song you know almost all the lyrics too
open up a word document
play song
type lyrics as song plays them
start out on a slow song then do faster ones :P
and then eventually you will start typing at a stupidly fast speed
helps for touch typing as well

I got fast at typing over time and especially playing games like WoW, which can require you to type whilst still watching what you are doing (ie in 'boss fights'). I managed to get to ~ 60 words per minute but thats only if I concentrate, which i usually don't tbh lol

I can do 60 words per minute. We had a program called "Hippodrome" and there you were racing with a horse. When you typed fast, your horse would go fast and if you increased the word rate, the hostile horse would go faster, etc...
Anyway, that helped me a little. Only way to type faster is to type more and more. Soon you'll type fast.

I just took this test and got 77 words, one mistake writing random sentences :P
Anyway yea basically it just takes learning the home keys and a shit-ton of practice. I'm surprised you weren't taught in school, usually every first year has a keyboard intensive day in school since that's what they're going to be doing for the rest of their miserable lives.
This was my test, I felt it necessary to post :P

I can type about eighty with reasonable accuracy and I suppose it just comes from typing a lot.

there were several programs I used to improve my typing skills, one of them being...Marcus Beacon teaches typing (or something like that). I also took keyboarding class in 9th grade...but by that time I was already pretty good
Now I can type pretty fast without making too many errors

Actually this program was also given in school. But I slacked off on it and ended up typing at a shitty speed. And my time to learn it was up so I "borrowed" the program from one of the computers when I wasn't supposed to in order to learn at home.

I would not have believed that if it was not for a kid who sat next to me in that class who could type that fast.

I took a class in 6th grade. I got 80+ WPM without any mistakes but that has lowered since then due to me not practicing like we had to during class.
