well i recently stopped cutting (well about in December but with 5 slip ups) but I've started to eat a lot more I would eat something healthy then just go strait to the junk food and pig out, but I cant find anything to cope with. once I lost my guitar because my parents confiscated it due to some missing home works I have nothing to cope with besides food, and I'm afraid to tell me parents because there's a 95% chance there think there's something physiologically wrong with me when there's really not. Any suggestions on how to cope with the urge to cut or eat?

Deal with it the same way as you dealt with cutting. Binging yourself isn't healthy. You could really hurt yourself. Try to chew gum to stop yourself from binging yourself.

You can eat healthy things. Like fruit, or carrots, or things like that. Just don't stuff yourself on junk food. Even though you don't want to tell your parents, they only want to help. So if it gets worse, don't be afraid to let them know. Or at least tell a counselor at your school about this. You should never keep problems like this to yourself.

I have a feeling this isn't really an eating disorder, more maybe a side effect of depression? Depression can cause over and under eating. Maybe you should talk to your parents or a doctor about this?

First of all, congratulations on your halt in cutting. That is really impressive. So, I agree with Fiction. Excessive eating can be a sign of depression, not always an eating disorder. Try to distract yourself from food, or hide it somewhere that you won't find it, or can't reach. Try to get out of the house so you will be as far away from food as possible until you have meals. Good luck, Caitlin

I agree with Kathy. You should probably talk to a professional about it, because depression can be known to cause overeating. Food can be a comfort when you're depressed. Try distracting yourself by listening to music or reading. Keep yourself busy and you won't want to eat as frequently. Also, try to eat healthy foods like fruits and yogurt. Good luck!
