Event's in Modern Day Beijing?

So yeah for Humanities I'm doing a Beijing project thing. Chapter one is to be in on Wednesday and I left til last minute like always. :P
We're to do at least 4 pages a chapter and I've done two and a half. D:
So ANYWAY is there any noticeable events that have happened in Beijing? I've wrote about the 2008 Olympics so anymore information on that would be appreciated.

Oh and by modern I mean 2000-2011. :3

Beijing really is a city that never sleeps, and whilst there are always plenty of things to do whatever the time of year, many seasonal festivals provide true monthly highlights and are really not to be missed.
