Ouch. Burning yourself doesn't seem like a good idea. Burns are no better than cuts. You can get really bad rashes, and blisters on your skin if you burn yourself too bad. So I don't recommend it. I don't know if you are using it as something to distract you from cutting, but I really hope you stay away from burning yourself. There are other ways that you can stop yourself from cutting, and burning yourself isn't a good idea. I don't want you to hurt yourself. :)

burning is still self harm. All kinds of self harm are just as "bad" as each other.
Burn scars are truly horrible, and they're a lot worse than cut scars. I've got a few burn scars that look horrible, and they'll be there for a long time.
Maybe hold onto an ice cube until it melts. It gives you a burning sensation, without actually burning. It's worked for me quite a few times.

Which is very true. I used to burn myself with matches when I was a Sophomore and I still have the scars to prove it. The only difference between burning and cutting is that there is a bigger chance of it getting infected, it hurts worse longer (in my opinion) and the scars are typically not straight lines. It will leave a scar just as any other form of self-harm and is highly NOT recommended. You're trying to make it seem okay by telling yourself it's not the same but in reality there is no difference. You're still commiting a form of self-harm that will scar you and leave you regretting it later. Please consider a better alternative. Hold an ice cube in the palm of your hand and press, or over the spot you want to burn. I find ice cubes to be better for people who burn because it can often times mimic the pain that a burn can cause better than mimicing a cut.

I don't want to burn with like...matches or fire. More like...eraser burns? I don't like using ice cubes...they're too cold and only work if I put salt on them which feels weird on my hands and makes me feel dirty. I will try to stay away from it.........but it's hard to do that. I wish I could just sleep all the time.
