Hi, I recently had a dentist apointment booked but refused to go, and now I don't ever have to go back so I'm very pleased ...But I'm not sure if it was a good idea...:L
I hate the dentist, but I kind of wonder if I should still go...? My teeth are pretty much perfect and I don't ever get tooth ache, however, then what if I do get something wrong with my teeth and I can't get an apointment? Did I make a huge mistake? ><

Just go in, if your teeth are fine they'll just do a little cleaning and you're on you're way. I been to the dentist alot recently and it aint that bad, they've gotten way better in the last 5 years, I had to get a root canal, and 3 fillings. But thats cause I drink a lot of pop, you should be fine

Well, between you and me, I don't think it's healthy to avoid the dentist. Oral hygiene is very important. You need to face up to your fears, and sit in the dentist chair. Just close your eyes, and it will be over before you know it. Teeth problems, can lead to other problems in your body.

I agree with both of these. Do you really want your teeth falling out when you're 40? Certain dentists fit to your certain needs. I use to HATE going to the dentist, almost on the verge of tears and shaking when I went. I hated getting x-rays done and the feeling of people sticking metal tools down my throat, because I was scared it would fall into my throat.. :P I found a dentist I trusted, with little x-rays to put in my mouth.

Look around for different dentists. You'll be grateful in the long run once you find a dentist you enjoy going to.

As others have said, you need to find a dentist that you like. If he/she is in any way competent and if the staff is competent you should feel very comfortable. You do need to go to the dentist at least once a year. While your teeth may look and feel healthy to you then dentist will be able to tell with x-rays where potential problems may be arising and fix them before they become a real problem.

It wasn't a big mistake but go anyways. There are certain things that you can't see wrong with your teeth. I suggest to just go just to make sure.

I think that you should go in, the dentist is there to help you, not hurt you.

Hmmm....avoiding the dentist sounds like a problem. You could get a disease or something worse if you don't regularly visit the dentist, and you also need your teeth thouroughly cleaned every once and a while- which is what the dentist does. It is strongly advised that you go to the dentist. Maybe you want to try to get back on the waiting list? I think that's the best thing to do...

Also you might want to get a different dentist if it is specifically YOUR dentist you don't like.
