iPod Touch 4G, the newest one, is a really great gadget. Tend to take it whenever I'm going out and it has everything I need when I'm on the go - except a phone, but pop into a Starbucks or wifi hotspot and you can just use Skype. I can happily use it to post on VT, read through Facebook, watch videos on YouTube, chat on Skype or MSN , check the news, read a book or play a game at home. In fact, download the JumiOne app and you can even control you PC from your iPod Touch. It's an excellent thing to have, and Apple even thought to include a music player  The Retina display and HD video recording in the right light are incredible, especially given how ridiculously thin this thing is.

Great device. Apple's whole touch line (iTouch, iPad, iPhone) are all really great products. Not a huge mac fan, but Apple has really impressed me.

With regards to the iPod, I would say go for it.

Lovely bits of kit which will do most of what you need on the iOS (which I think is brilliant). I know people with them; Jon's post echoes most of what I would say anyway.

I wouldn't really advise people to go straight in for an iPhone / iPad unless they easily have the money spare as other devices can be bought for much less which do exactly the same (if not more) than the apple equivalents.

If you don't have an iPhone or Android Phone, definitely get an iPod Touch. They rock! I had one before I got my iPhone 4.

I had one. It just recently broke due to a fall, but it has lasted since ~2007. It was the first gen, and while it wasn't as fast as my Droid X on webpages and didn't have as large of a screen it was a great device.

It's actually really good. I do everything on vt from my I pod 4 there's millions of wifi hot spots and resteraunts that offer wifi so you can even access it whilst your out and stuff. And the retina display is amazing!

Just get an iPhone. I regret not doing it, not having the AT&T Internet (even if it sucks, some Internet is better than no Internet) and now that the 3GS is $50, well.. o.O

I have had two iPod touches but I now have an iPhone 4 and I'm hoping to get an iPad soon. I have been very impressed with apple recently

Its a really great device. Mine got a cracked screen before august and I needed something new so I got the droid 2 and I don't regret switching over from an idevice to android.

Overall, go for it. It is a really fun thing if you like to be kept busy and all. But if you have at and t, you could get a 3gs for 50 bucks, but then there's no facetime.

Contrary to the conformist fanboys, apple products are shitty and their warranty won't cover ANYTHING. Get a ZuneHD, OLED screen, better video, faster internet, and weighs about 1/5th as much as any ipod touch. And you can get 32GB for $180 or 64 for like $250 instead of apple's $500 for 64GB or $350 for 32 or whatever terrible price they have now.

Before any of you start a shitstorm about the fact it doesn't have 10000000000000 apps that 99% of are exactly the same, it has all the necessary apps, facebook, twitter, like 20 different games (all really fun), calculator, etc. You don't need anything else. And just in case you're going to bitch and moan they're opening the Zune Marketplace to 3rd party developers very soon.

Also it has NVIDIA graphics and processor so it's a fuckton faster and has better graphics, and it has radio(that doesn't need wifi, so don't even try arguing).
I showed my new ZuneHD to a bunch of people at my school that were apple fanbois and they all loved it and some of them bought one that week.
