So, my PS3 is at my father's house and I was searching for this PS2 game the whole weekend to play it on my PS3, I looked through wikipedia and I saw the game's name under the "PS2 Games that can be played on PS3".
So I am at my mother's house now and I finally found that game! I am anxious to play it on my PS3 5 days later. But I have a problem.
The game is a pirate copy and I have no idea wheter pirate copies will work on PS3s or not. I searched through internet and I couldn't find specific answers. Can someone help?

Hmm, i'm not too sure. If it's a pirate copy then there could be the possibility that the software can't be read altogether and with all the new anti piracy precautions Sony takes it would be hard to tell. You'll just have to wait and see.

PS2 games can't be played on PS3. That's what the guy at the shop where I got mine from said. Although there is the memory card utility on the PS3, I just don't know. I wouldn't say it could. Considering it would be stubborn technology and leave no room for flexibility for games that are on PS2 (IMO).

Only first and second generation PS3's have support (these are most models made from 2006 - 2008 roughly). The hardware was taken out of later PS3 models which started with the new PS3 models featuring 40gb and 80gb hardrives in order to cut costs as this was the period when PS3 was presumed to fail.

Hax (http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=8791#axzz1FNAElW4x) - I did this to my PS2, not sure about PS3, though.
It doesn't hurt to try.
