I'll have days when it cracks but other days when it wont at all. the past week it like hasn't at all. also if it matters it usually cracks during lunch time at school

So my question is...how close am I to my voice actually getting deeper? I'm 13 and got a 2.8 on the puberty stage thingy...

thanks :yummy:

yeah i know it goes different for everyone but make a guestimation

Unfortunately this tends to happen all the way through puberty, I know some young adults who still have it happen at moments when their voice goes a little tense, or they are in an argument. It's normal and it's nothing to be embarrassed about - it happens to everyone, and for you it might go away a little quicker.

Seeing that everyone goes through puberty at different rates none of us can tell you when your voice is going to change or get deeper. Just because puberty goes in a certian order for someone does not mean that it will go in that order for you. All you can really do is wait and see.

It's starting to get deeper it may get deeper tonight or may take a few years. It's different for everyone. Some people dont even have voice cracks while others have them for years.

once you reach 15 or 16 it should start to get a little deeper... and puperty doesn't acctually stop untill you at the ripe old age of 21-30

More like 18-21, and in those years there's very little development.

It's a different course for everyone man, just chill.

I am a voice teahcer at a local studio and I have a student that is about 19 that his voice still has not changed, it is possible that your voice my take longer to change or due to genetics your voice may only change by a small amount. I also have a 14 year old who has a rather low voice for his age so it all depends on genetics really.....

From what you describe your voice is already changing.

My guess as to why you notice the cracking more at lunctime is that the background noise level is higher and therefore you raise you voice to be heard. As well as raising the volume I suspect you also raise the pitch (frequency) to a pitch that was previously comfortable and well co-ordinated but now, because your voice is deeper, sits in an awkward part of the voice called the passagio.

Likewise with the days you have the cracking and the days you don't I bet the difference is not in your voice but in what you're doing and your immediate environment, for example talking quietly to parents or calling your mates on the football field.

Gradual change is hard to spot. If you want confirmation and don't have an aunt who hasn't see you for a year to make some comment out the blue you could try using a piano of keyboard to find the highest and lowest note you can comfortable sing (don't strain), write them down and then repeat the exercise in a month and see if anything has changed.

I'm in stage 4 and it still happens to me, it normally happens all throughout puberty and even after sometimes.
