Well, I've noticed a lot of trolling going on here on VT. I've also noticed people are so rude to each other, and bully each other, and are very sarcastic when they don't need to be. Vt is a place for help, and many people are knocked down by another user. I figure that people act like this to others to make themselves feel better, or smarter.

I think it would be a good Idea for us to have a bullying moderator. Or a moderator especially purposed to control and deal with rudeness, and bullying among us teens.

thats what the normal mods are for
if you bring any bullying our trolling to our attention by reporting it then we can act on it
vts a big place, and it can be difficult for the moderators to see everything going on, which is why we have the reports, so specific things that need attention are brought to our attention directly

Make sure you report the user(s) to me or another moderator, global moderator, administrator. If the issue resides within staff report it to me or another administrator. We make sure that we handle every situation that arises appropriately. The report system is also a good way to make sure a moderator or senior staff is aware of your concern. We're here to help, so make sure to help us by reporting these user(s).

I don't have any specific examples that need attention, but I've just noticed it....everywhere. Here on VT. I feel like a lot of the people that need help, are just getting..torn down. I mean, there was a point when I first joined that people were so rude to me I wanted to cut myself.

Well that isn't acceptable, you really need to report these issues as they happen so that things maybe mediated and shut down immediately. If it's not on posts and it's in the private messaging system as well as visitor messages I implore you to contact a staff member so nothing of such does happen to you or anyone else in a similar circumstance.

I know it isn't acceptable. I wish people on here could just get along rather than being rude, obnoxious, grammar focused people who think we are all better than everyone else.

I dont see a lot of bullying to be honest Kayla and its probably better now than it was a year ago as a couple of regular offenders got banned. Bashing, trolling and flaming are against the rules and should always be reported, staff will take it seriously and will help.

A lot of people do get along, it doesn't mean everyone will, but when the problem comes up, it's taken care of, if you see something offensive then by all means report it and we'll gladly look into it.

I agree. I believe it is being done in RoTW under the guise of debating.

I have to say something; not to discredit what you're saying because it does happen, but people take their debates very seriously and it does tend to get a bit heated, so I guess it all depends on how you take people's responses and how the person themselves respond. You just have to learn not to take what people say and internalize it. Though when something does happen, it's most definitely taken care of.

I also do see a lot of bullying or enraging if you will. I think this is a great community. I have been on VT for a while now, Just haven't registered until recently.

Debates in ROTW get passionate. Honestly, with an extent, ROTW should be viewed as a "don't cry when we make you cry" kind of section.

You may see a lot of it, but not a lot goes unpunished.

Seriously? This place has gotten strict enough. We don't need a bullying moderator to make things even more uptight.

The mods and trolls are buddy buddy. So it wouldn't even matter. Or so I assume.

Everybody here just ends up bashing everyone else they can because they can't do it in real life. ROTW is like the worst place to be when your not wanting trouble, but yeah other places get a little bit too much and i think you should completely avoid anywhere you feel uncomfortable... Nothing is going to really change how people act, but there should be some limits i guess.

I have to agree 100% with her. I've gotten rather upset over things on VT, while that's not saying much, I'm quite shocked by how many people do that, and how much of it goes on. I would only report it if it's a bit too far, but I wish people were more courteous. Sure, it's the internet. But when people aren't asking for it, they did nothing to deserve it, and there's staff that can sort of regulate it, it's kind of sad.

While there's not much we can really do about that, I just think people go a bit too far in that forum. You can say pretty much the same thing, and debate just as well, probably even better, when you leave the brutal criticism and belittling others out of it. I love friendly debate, but I am completely turned off from sharing my opinions anymore. I feel like the safest place in the forum is the Psych Ward, as it's the least trolled and the most friendly and helpful imho, but you can't be limited to just that forum.

LOL

Everything about this is pathetic. VT isn't a playground for 7 year olds and I honestly haven't seen any real bullying here in a long time. Having "mean" things said to you is a part of life that you have to just deal with and move on. Grow up.

Guys...I thought we already kinda worked this out. I apologized and said that I don't mind that anymore..I'm learning to just ignore it. So there isn't really a reason to still post on this, honestly.

Hm, I think that if others believe there is a problem with it, they are going to reply regardless of whether you are satisfied or not. Even though personally I don't think there's an issue, I can name many other forums which are far more brutal. For the Internet, and for a teen forum, VT really isn't too bad.
