as the title says... i hook up my ethernet cable to my computer, turn my xbox on, go to the network settings and when it shows the wired or wireless options, i cant select either of them. there is no check mark thing above the wired. i do believe it has to do with my computer, because the same thing happened a couple of weeks ago, and i just borrowed my sister's laptop. worked fine. she doesnt have it atm, so yeah... i have had my xbox work fine with my computer, but i dont know whats going on. i contacted xbox support over twitter, and they basically told me to do the same things i have already done. the box that has to be checked in the network setting (computer)(Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections right click and then hit properties). everything is the same. havent messed with anything.

Tried:
Restarting my router
Restarted my xbox with other ethernet cables
Restarted my laptop and reconnected to the internet
asking xbox support

Haven't tried:
messing with computer settings.
hooking up xbox directly to router. there is no tv near my router.

Maybe a stupid idea, but have you checked if your ethernet cable was a crosswired one?

Else, I'd check the configuration of ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your computer.

'Messing with computer settings' is where you're going wrong - they have to be pretty perfect for this to work, I have experience in the matter. Microsoft have a good site up in order to help you sort it out:
