I don't particularly like my parents. I don't know why, I just don't. We don't fight a lot, I just get easily irritated and frustrated with them. I blame the fact that I'm an only child, and therefore I choose to try and stay away because they give me too much attention. My mom gets mad because she says I'm disrespectful, and I don't like to do anything family related. And she's right, I just get really sick of my family really fast. I love my parents a lot, but there's times where I wished we fought, where I wished home life wasn't stable..maybe so I'd have a reason to not want to be around them? So I guess my question is what should I do? I love my parents a lot but it's a nightly occurrence where I get overly frustrated with them and want them to go away.

They can't read your mind. Sit them down and nicely explain to them how you feel so at least they know you don't enjoy being a brat.

Find something that you can do with your family. Go out to dinner. Go out bowling, go do a family activity. It's never good to avoid your parents. You should always keep a good relationship with them. Even though you don't fight, it doesn't mean your relationship with your family is good. You are ignoring their presence and I think that is a sign of disrespect. I think if you just spend time with them, and have talks with them, you will find yourself in a better relationship with them. If they give you too much attention, take it as a good thing. They love you, so of course they are going to want to give you attention. I'm sure that if you just spend more time with them, you will have a better bond with your family. Family is supposed to stick together.

I think you're right. Family is supposed to stick together. But there's times where I just can't seem to bear "sticking together." But I suppose that's what family is, right?

So true, ha. Then again us kids are a pain in the ass too. Everyone's just a pain in the ass. :P

Parents try so hard to understand their children and sometimes they get frustrated to the point where you end up arguing with them. I'm sure they care about you and want to try and make you happy, but you have to work together to achieve that. I completely dislike my parents on a daily basis but I try and keep a smile on my face and they leave me alone when I want. I don't know your life, nor does anyone here but that's what I got to say. :) good luck with your problems. :D
