Heaven's calling out to me, speaking loud my name
Angels singing silently, as though they sing in pain
The pearly gates are dull and grim, not as I recall
Still I tread above the clouds, this could not be all
Their haloed heads are bowed in shame beneath their worried eyes
I wonder if they exceed the frame the pictures compromised
Tears that that fall have stained their cloaks that one time used to glow
Now the tattered angel robes have not a single light to show
Could these be the angels of which I once had dreamed
Is their perfection less, than what it may have seemed
My thoughts can't fathom this dark distress
That has fallen from their once holy dress
Tonight I lay my head to rest beneath their highest gaze
Crying tears, for these angels fears, that seem to hold their gaze
When my prayers have ended so, I'll hope there's no angelic lies
As in these heavens there lives a place, where the lonely angel cries
